We Need At Least 3 Mineral Makeup Foundation Shades!

Let me just share a random thought that I’ve had for the day. Yes, the day never passes by without me thinking about mineral makeup *wink*. For a mineral makeup addict, or even a user, one must have at least three foundation shades.

One being a slightly lighter shade, one your current shade, and one darker shade.

The lighter shade could be a last-minute concealer that you can use just in case your concealer runs out, and a shade that you can use during the cold months when the complexion pales by a bit. I have observed that complexions tend to lighten up during the months of November and December when the weather is cold. To counter the “lightened skin” effect, great addon minerals are bronzers ( not the muddy looking ones , not too orange ) that can give some warmth to the skin.

The exact shade of your skin as of the moment would be perfect to keep because it is rare that you can find a shade that can exactly match your skin tone. You have to check the undertones, the exact shade, and if the mineral foundation disappears in your skin, then it is mineral makeup true love! You just don’t let go of true love. *wink*

The mineral makeup foundation that’s darker than your skin tone can be used to contour your cheekbones. Another more important use of a darker foundation is that it can be used for the after Holidays and summer. Sometimes, it can be mixed with your “exact” shade foundation 50-50 when it gets a little bit warmer, and if you decide to go on a beach trip ( woohoo! ), then you wouldn’t worry about not having mineral foundation to use when you come back ( or during the trip – hey, I wear mineral foundation on the beach! ).

Bottomline is, one must have at least three shades of mineral foundation to never go wrong.

I would know – goodness, to be honest, in the past year, I have changed my shade in mineral foundation thrice. Monave’s Caroline + Hyeyeon mixed 50/50 roughly a year ago , Saturnina over the summer ( a darker one ), Hyeyeon after summer until December, and surprisingly, this January, Hyeyeon + Saturnina. The shades Caroline, Hyeyeon, Saturnina are arranged from lightest to darkest. You could imagine my endless mixing. But hey, whatever blends in my skin should be all worth it. After all, mineral makeup is all about applying it in such a way that it looks like second skin, and I will do at all costs to achieve that.

How about you, have you had any shade switching stories? Lemme know! I’d love to hear from you!

Tata for now!

Hi Sophie, my experience is a bit funny. I’m currently switching between Hyeyeon and Saturnina, the reason being Hyeyeon matches the shade of my skin on the face exactly, but my neck and arms are slightly darker than my face and so I’m more comfortable with a darker shade. I might even get yet another darker shade for the coming summer.

I’ve found out why the skin on my face is darker than the rest of my skin – it’s because I’ve been using a moisturizer that has an SPF 45 for my face, but none for the rest of my skin! Nyak, mali!
