Playing With Silk Naturals Perfect Harmony Foundation

Okay, my loot from Phoebe finally arrived awhile ago, and I was very very happy with my package – Silk Naturals Perfect Harmony Foundation. I know our girls Val, and Nikki blogged about their experience about it, and here’s mine!

First, I was impressed with the information sheet that Silk Naturals provided. Aside from the product descriptions, and ingredient breakdown on each products, they also have explanation for every ingredient, on what it does. Great, great write-up.

On we go to the Perfect Harmony Foundation. This is the first time that I’ve encountered mineral makeup presented to me in such a way that the base and the color are separate, and I would need to mix them. My initial reaction was, I groaned. I was in the middle of work and I wanted something ready already. I thought it was going to be difficult, but then, it’s surely worth a try! So off I went for lunch , and I cleansed my face and went for it. I read the instructions, and I started with 6 scoops ( the scoop they provided is 1/32 of a teaspoon ) of ivory ( the foundation base ) and 1 scoop of the Buttery Gold color.

I learned that you just can’t “mix” them like you’d mix sugar and coffee powder. You need to keep the sifter seal there, and close the jar, and shake, shake, and shake the jar. I tried my first concoction but found it too light. Those who are using Bare Escentuals Fairly Light or Monave Caroline might want to try the first ratio that I have mentioned. What I did next? I added another scoop of the Buttery Gold into the mix.

And it was perfect! ( for the record, I’m wanting a darker shade since it’s almost summer, I’m a cross between Hyeyeon and a bit of Saturnina and use Bare Escentuals Light – but won’t hurt if I mix a bit of Medium Beige. ).

With my ongoing Obagi Clenziderm regimen, my skin’s a bit blotchy, and I liked how it made my skin a bit even and smooth, because I didn’t feel like concealing too much, and it’s just a laid back day for me. The coverage provided by Silk Naturals is exactly like Bare Escentuals’, light , but very buildable coverage. It feels very light on the skin and I love how it feels on my skin as if I’m not wearing any makeup. I also like their Skin Perfecting Finishing Powder, but that’s another review!

What I love with the Silk Naturals Perfect Harmony Foundation kit is that I can always “mix” a new batch of foundation when I run out of it, and I can always adjust the shade, for it to be lighter, or darker, depending on the season! Talk about savings.

I highly recommend this set to mineral makeup enthusiasts – this is great quality mineral makeup and would truly give you value for your money!
