Since I started using mineral makeup over 2 years ago, I couldn’t help but love mineral shadows. They have all kinds of finishes depending on what you like: matte, shimmer, velvety, sparkly. You can also get samples of the products first to try out before buying a full size.
I love to sample eye shadows and the mmu addict that I am; I put each and every sample into jars. I even ordered those cute 5 gram jars and sifters from online retailers/ mmu companies abroad. Until I ran out of space.
The last few orders of samples I received I didn’t even bother to transfer into jars and just kept them in an organza bag that came from a mmu company’s packaging. It was space-saving but I still had difficulty choosing what I was going to use although it was no big deal for me to just dip my clean brush into the baggie when using them.
I then came across blogs of beautiful ladies from Vox (momof2angels and Lilita) who had a great idea at storing shadow samples. They used trading card holders in binders with each pocket holding a baggie. Space and TIME saving indeed!
I looked for the card sleeves at a local bookstore but couldn’t find them so I bought a calling card holder instead. It could hold 120 cards or 120 eye shadow baggies in my case and I got 2 pieces. I transferred my shadows into baggies and put 1 baggie per pocket so a folder contained 60 for me. With my full sized shadows, I got a pinch of it in the baggies and stored the full sizes away.
I have almost filled up the 2nd folder and need to get a couple more soon. I can’t believe I have more than 100 shadows and liners! It is now so easy to find what I am looking for by flipping through the pages or use shades I haven’t used or didn’t even know I had (and there are a lot). It is also easy to bring along on out of town trips knowing I have a good selection to choose from!
Foundations, finishing and glow powders as well as blushes I still keep in sifter jars though because they are more convenient to use this way. Today, I have more space in my drawers for more minerals!

That’s a great idea! Will try getting business card holders the next time I go to an office supply store. Thanks for sharing this tip
What a brilliant idea!!!
