Mineral Makeup Update : Pure Anada Mineral Foundation Swatches/Review

11:40 pm

I was so so happy yesterday as I came home with two packages. One from Purely Cosmetics ( which I finally nailed the shade, yay! review’s for tomorrow!) and one is the package from Pure Anada. My co-mineral makeup lover pal Aileen sent me samples of mineral foundations in Mountain View and Ivory Chinook ( which is good for fairly light warm skin tones ) , and I was not able to find my shade in them, but was able to find a very good ( no not just very good, but extraordinarily good! ) mineral foundation in Pure Anada! So imagine my glee when the samples I ordered finally landed.

Amongst the 12 samples worth $9 (with free shipping, isn’t that great? ), I immediately grabbed the three foundation shades: Golden Harvest, Soft Wheat, and Mountain Sunset. ( on the first photo, from L-R, and Mountain Sunset is at the bottom ) Here are swatches on my tissue paper :

Mineral Makeup Review : Purely Cosmetics’ Silk Powder

12:02 am

For oily skinned people, it is just a struggle to keep the face shine free. Mineral makeup is heaven-sent as it does not clog the pores ( when skin is oily, the bigger the probability of pores getting clogged ), but it’s still a struggle to find the best product to control those oilies.

Three ingredients that are precious to the discriminating mineral makeup lover who suffers from oilies : kaolin clay, silica, and silk powder. I’ve tried the first two, and I just kept on ignoring my friend who kept on professing about silk powder because kaolin clay and silica can only bring me up to some extent for oil control, but not totally.

I was able to try Purely Cosmetics’ Silk Powder one Saturday afternoon when my skin was peeling so bad. I was loading my face with lots of moisture mist, but I still made sure that I had some oil control because of my face having greasy tendencies. Purely Cosmetics’ Silk Powder felt very very light and it felt like I was not wearing any finishing powder at all ( this is lighter than most finishing powders ) but the finish was faintly flawless -faintly in the sense that it gave out a sheer flawless finish to my overall look.

It Is Better To Wear Mineral Makeup Than…

11:24 pm

no makeup at all. Well, do you agree?

For me, I would have to agree specially when you’re going outdoors, specially if you’re not the type who wears sunscreens. The zinc oxide content of your mineral foundation would serve as your buffer against the harmful rays of the sun, as well as soothe your skin.

Skin Alison Raffaele Fast Forward Acne Response Primer is one of those unique primers that is different from the ones that I’ve been using. First, its texture is a bit different from the ones I’m accustomed to. Second, it promises to prevent acne as it is being applied on your skin, and it also has SPF ( 15 ) ! Now who wouldn’t want those added benefits?

Mineral Makeup Review : Alice Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow in Sage

10:35 pm

Fall’s all about smoky eyes, and gray just happens to be a nice shade of eyeshadow that can look a bit more subtle than the typical black smoky eye. I’ve seen it in a few magazines abroad, and it further lured me to get a gray eyeshadow for myself! It’s just so elegant, but it also looks edgy!

I found a sample of Alice Cosmetics in Sage, and I must say, it is a very beautiful green-grey shade! I was able to pull of a nice colorful smoky eye ( sigh, I wasn’t able to take a picture! ) with Alice Cosmetics Amethyst Eyeshsadow, on the 1/3 of the lid, and Alice Cosmetics in Sage on the remaining 2/3 of the lid. I was able to get compliments that it was a nice smoky eye, and I didn’t really intend it to be smoky eyes, but rather, just a new style of eye makeup that I am adapting.

Mineral Makeup Tip : After Skin/Chemical Peeling

10:09 pm

Last week, I underwent a chemical peeling session. Chemical peels promise to get rid of dull skin cells, as well as make treatments more effective. Chemical peels nowadays have minimal downtime, that combat aging , anti-acne, and even melasma. My problem is acne, with my impossible comedones, and well, just after a few days post-peeling session, when I was about to go out to dinner with my girl friends, I noticed that my skin was peeling, and it was very hard to conceal them even with mineral foundation because they were flaking!

As suggested by the dermatologist, makeup is very discouraged right after the peel, but if it is really needed, makeup can be worn two hours after the peeling session. I think that mineral makeup would be a safer alternative, just in case. Of course, peeling day means as much as possible, no makeup day. Allow skin to breathe at all costs, even if mineral makeup does not clog pores. It’s great to take a break from makeup, whatever kind it may be, for even a day.
