It’s so nice to be a mineral makeup addicts. We’re just so well-loved by owners that they give out free samples!

Naked Minerals is a new mineral makeup brand in the block, and it boasts of its “naked effect” and “polished healthiness” on the skin. Naked Minerals believes in natural beauty, as it wants to enhance it, rather than making it look like stuff were loaded on the face.
For those who are complaining about loose minerals getting messy, Naked Minerals hears you as they have their products in pressed form to be brought anywhere, anytime , looking fresh and polished without getting the clothes stained. The pressed minerals come in four shades ( Light, Medium, Dark, Extra Dark ), and there is no need to worry about skin tones. One half of the foundation is warm, and the other half cool. Mix it, and you get a neutral shade!
Well, I’m happy that they’re giving out free samples as they launch, for I’m a sucker for free samples, as many of us are, I’m sure! And I don’t know if this can be considered a sample for the includes are not in sample size – a kabuki brush and one piece of foundation ( pressed form ). Add only $9.95 for shipping and handling, and you’re all set!
There are some items in the site that I am particularly interested in, like the Neroli Mist. I have always believed that mists do wonders for mineral makeup application, and this one is a must-try, for $17.95. For that amount, I’ve also read that aside from moisturizing qualities, it also gives some aromatherapic, relaxing effects.
I don’t know about you, but I’m spreading the word – this is a great deal! I’ll definitely have this for a review!

Sophie, they only ship to the US for the free trial kit
Sophieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…I am so grateful you blog about things like these! I am getting one now! LOL!
Nikki : Oh well, I hope they start to ship internationally next time!
Anna : Go get one, it’s a good deal, you get the kabuki almost for free already!
I can’t find the ingredients lists anywhere on the site, which is currently preventing me from ordering. Who knows what they’re hiding in their products? I inquired about the ingredients yesterday via the contact form and have yet to hear back from them.
Hi J!
Count me in among the people who inquired about the ingredients. I just got my kit today and it didnt have the ingredients on the back of the label, too
HI there, I’ve been lurking on your site for the last few days. Love all your articles. I came across this one and was interested in the samples as well. I emailed naked minerals for an ingredient list, and this is what they sent me.
titanium dioxide
zinc oxide
iron oxide
chromium oxide green (may contain based upon color)
ultramarine (may contain based upon color)
neroli oil
tocopherol (vitamin e)
octyle palmitate (ester of palm oil)
mica
bismuth oxychloride
Thanks for all the informative blogs, I have just recently become a mineral makeup convert myself and your articles have really helped me find out whats out there.
Cheers,
Celeste
Hello!
I just got my Naked Mineral makeup in the mail today. I used to use Sheer Coverage. I found that with the Naked Mineral my pores seemed larger whereas they weren’t as large with Sheer Coverage. I may be switching back!
On another note – the ingredients are on the box, not the individual products.
Kelley O
Kelley O,
Just a note, when I first tried Naked Minerals, I just “dusted” the minerals on – and my pores looked huge!
But the company suggests “polishing” the minerals on your face – this helps them adhere, become part of your face. So don’t be afraid to use a little pressure when applying.
It may also be that you used too much – it really doesn’t take much. I dip my Kabuki Brush maybe 4 times total for my entire face. After all, we want the “natural” look!
Anyway, no more huge pores problems! I love Naked Minerals! This is the first makeup I’ve been able to use in 15 years!
Laura
I need to know if any of you others have used Bare Escentuals? If so does the Bismuth make you itch? Now that I see this product contains Bismuth I am very hesitant to order because it makes me itch.
Hi Tracy!
I have
I will be writing a post soon about bismuth for those weary of that ingredient
Where is this post going to be? I just happened upon this page yesterday and I am not sure how to navigate this site. Yes I am an idiot
I am an extreme mineral user….I’ve tried em all! No question that Talc should NEVER be an ingredient and Bismuth makes most people itch, so beware if the product contains these. Naked Minerals seems to have the best coverage. Their Kabuki brush is very soft and cleans up well. However….it is difficult to dip the kabuki into the compact because it is dual-sided. Meaning two colors with a divider between them within one small compact (and no mirror for on the go touch-ups). For me only one color matched my skin, so half of the product was wasted.
Well Hi everyone, I used Bare Minerals for 2 years before I realized it was the actual makeup making my skin just completely go haywire. (I was on different medicines/circumstancess) I had flawless skin, now it’s kinda rough looking, with some pock marks, not many. I had cystic acne from the Bismuth I think in the foundation. MineralMakeupGirl I will be interested when you have your post up. I am extremely aggravated that I spent that much money on a misleading product not to mention damaging. And yes I am an organic consumer, I believe in all this hype, so I was disappointed when I found out, but this is unbelieveable. I went back to Mac and my skin is fine, never again, I don’t care if 24K gold is in it!! That trash won’t touch my face again… Does anyone know what happened or what I can do to improve? I got an ance scarring lotion and a home mircodermabrasion kit. Any other ideas? For everyone that is happy with it, I am glad that it did not cause as much damage to you as it did to me. These companies do have a good product, I just wish there would have been an external warning instead of the, “this will help your skin”. But stick with what works for you… Thanks for letting me vent, and please post with any help!! Thanks
Hi Jessica! I’ll use your question to make an entry for tomorrow.
Tracy : Our contributor Joyce has submitted an timely article about bismuth. It’ll be up within the week. ( Sorry, I just started reading my comments, my bad . )
Jessica,
I had the same problem! I am severely scared from a very abrupt form of cystic acne that came on after using BareMinerals. I had to go on antidepressants because I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror! It was devastating–and still is because of the pockmarks that were left behind. I cannot find any makeup that will help in hiding these scars either. I hope all will pay more attention to what they put on their face!
I did get this naked minerals. I have to say that even though it does contain Bismuth it does not bother me at all. I am thinking maybe it is just a smaller amount of bismuth…IDK?
I do like the Naked Minerals, I am not sold on it completely yet. I am still testing it out. I will keep you all posted on my experiance with it.
I was also a big Bare Minerals user and just threw mine in the trash. I developed SEVERE cystic acne for the first time ever in my life – I’m talking the giant, red kind that hurts so bad it has it’s own pulse. I am 28 years old. My skin will NEVER be the same. I looked into the ingredients of the make up after everything topical as well as internal failed to clear me up. I am so angry that these products are sold as “natural.” So pure you can sleep in it my behind. My skin is ruined. I am at a loss for what kind of make up to try now. Can anyone tell me what make up has worked for them and how long it took for your face to clear of active acne after you stopped the minerals??
I use mineral foundation from Afterglow (you can buy them directly from their website). There are absolutely no additives, and no bismuth oxychloride, the ingredient in Bare Minerals that may be irritating your skin (it is a by-product of processing lead and copper). Their foundation also has anti-inflammatory properties from natural skin calming ingredients (again, see their website). They sell samples for only $2.00 so you can try them and not have to invest a lot of money. The make up is fantastic and totally natural looking. I don’t think there is a thing in this makeup that can harm your skin and it will probably help it. Good Luck!
I had the exact same experience as Molly. Bare Minerals has made my skin a complete mess. After many tears, lost confidence, and hundreds of dollars on topicals and oral antibiotics I finally began to research the “minerals” in the makeup. I was so angry to find that bismuth oxychloride, the first ingredient listed on the label to be a cheap filler that is a by-product of lead and copper that is rarely found in nature, it is very heavy and and difficult for people with sentive skin to wear. and why in the world would bare minerals not warn sensitive customers of this ingredient? profits? Rosacea-support.org has a list of non-bismuth oxychloride mineral make-up as well as a list of make-up containing bismuth oxychloride. I am currently testing Larenim mineral make-up which is free of bismuth, and works ok as a concealor with a small drop of jojoba oil, too soon to tell if i am going to have a breakout, but i have read some great reviews and i am keeping my fingers crossed, by the way i purchased it at a local health food store. Larenim also has a great website. one more warning, some people are also highly sensitive to micas which can be very abrasive. good luck molly i feel your pain and i am so sorry that you had this same bad experience with Bare Minerals.
I’ve been looking for the article on bismuth, have I missed it? Can someone tell me where to find it?
Thanks,
Laura
hi, im 40 and am lucky as i have always had good skin…until lately that is due to my usage of bare id mineral makeup which i spent a fortune buying! after less than two days of using it my skin broke out in hundreds (and i mean…hundreds) of tiny white pimples. i also got rashes all over my face and neck. i too am really shocked that a company can say it’s makeup is good for the skin when it contains this horrible ‘mineral’ bismuth oxy..yuk! i’ll be trashing this product whenever i get a chance.
Hi! Does anyone have any feedback on Truminerals? They sell on ebay and have their own website. I recently ordered some of their stuff and it’ll be arriving next week. I hope to post my own feedback here soon.
I’ve been a user of Luminare for about 3 wks now, and although I’ve been happy with the “cosmetic” appeal of the product, I have been getting the ITCHIES tho thankfully no rashes or anything else.
Also, I found a baby kabuki in Beauty Bar (P475) and the salesgirl claimed it was made of sable. Yes, it was really soft and blended my minerals really well, but sadly, it was shedding too…
Hi, this is my first time on this site – I stumbled upon this posting in my search to find out more about Naked Minerals. I’m so upset because I ended buying the Supreme Kit (valued at $180) – got it brand new on ebay for $110 because I was so sure this was the makeup for me. No more messy loose minerals (and I can’t use any loose minerals with Bismuth, & just recently found out that Mica is also a irritant to my skin too). So I have to be so careful what I use. Well like all of you said they never really say what the ingredients they use, they just say they’re the most natural pure minerals. So when I got my Naked Minerals, I saw the ingredients listed on the box, and lo and behold, Bismuth and Mica!!!! Are they kidding me!! Now I haven’t opened anything up and thinking about reselling it because I’m so afraid to try it. But does anyone know if perhaps maybe the pressed mineral formulation reacts differently to the skin vs. the loose minerals formulation? Has anyone tried NAKED MINERALS and had a skin reaction similar to the reactions people have reported when using Bare Minerals (Bare Escentuals)? Thanks so much for anyone’s feedback.
For the past 4 months I’ve been wearing Bare Minerals makeup everyday. My skin got itchy and horribly dry. I broke out in a rash on both cheeks. I’m SHOCKED as well that they market this crap as “natural” and it costs an arm and a leg. For those of you who developed cystic acne, you should seriously thinking of suing Bare Minerals. Good luck. Also, I’m trying Joppa mineral makeup — bismuth oxy free! I’ll tell you how it goes.
I’m very curious if anyone has tried the Naked Minerals and what they think of them. But I’m a little nervous about the Bismuth too. So I’d love to hear some feedback from anyone about how they liked it(or didn’t like it) before I purchase their “free” sample. So please let us know if anyone tried NAKED MINERALS? and let us know what you think. thanks,
Hey, i have been researching on the naked minerals products and everyone seems to like it. Is it really better that bare minerals. i use to have bare minerals but it left me to shiny and in a very pink glow. i did not like it. i have also been looking at the before and afters pics of naked minerals. they are amazing. There is also a video of a woman named Laura putting on the makeup and there is a transformation. I dont have problems with bismuth so i was wondering should i invest $126.00 in the fundamental collection (almond) of naked minerals?
I have been using the TruMinerals product for about 8 months. It doesn’t contain bismuth oxychloride. I absolutely LOVE it! It blends really well and my skin looks and feels so much better. I’ve had acne since my teens, and have struggled to find a makeup that doesn’t “encourage” any more breakouts, but the TruMinerals brand has helped tremendously. I love it so much, that when they offered me the opportunity to start selling it in a home party format, I jumped at the chance! I’m not just saying it’s so great because I sell it now, like I said, I used it for many months before I started and the colors are beautiful and natural looking.
