In my opinion, loose minerals still perform the best amongst all kinds of mineral foundations. For me to use cream, liquid or pressed minerals, I would either be in a hurry, or want to save some space in my bag, but loose minerals still reign in terms of performance - coverage, staying power, and finish.
Thing is, it’s also the messiest form of minerals. You spill some product here and there, sometimes to your black top ( which has happened to me ALOT of times already ), stains your bag, and loose mineral eyeshadows can also fall under your eyes and make your look extra messy.
A latest discovery of mine comes from Alice Cosmetics. Alice Cosmetics is a mineral makeup company, that aside from offering mineral makeup ( that I shall review very soon ). Three tools that can aid you in managing loose minerals - the Buff Palette, Eyeshadow Guard and Mini Miracle Cloth.

The Buff Palette is the the lid of the mineral makeup pot’s perfect substitute. When we use the lid to tap product, sometimes the brush head’s too big that the brush won’t load up evenly, and as you tap off excess product, everything turns messy. The Buff Palette is big enough ( about 3 to 4 inches in diameter ) that you can even mix two mineral foundation colors, and swirl all you want! The “lip” and the “brush” are supposedly “exit points” of the minerals for returning the extra product into the pot, but I’d have to recommend against it for I prefer tapping just the right product and disposing the excess - via those exit points, being “sweeped out” by the brush! Haha!

The Eyeshadow Guard, on the other hand, reminds me of the mask worn by women, just right after applying makeup, as the hairstylists fix their hair, only that this is the eye version ! Haha! The eyeshadow guard is supposed to be placed under the eyes when you’re applying super loose pigments, or applying a line of eyeshadow on the lower lashline. Mess-free. Goodness, that’s my huge problem when I apply eyeshadow!

The Mini Miracle Cloth, in my experience, is super micro-fibre that it even sorts of sticks to my dry fingertips ( that I haven’t moisturized, I know, bad me haha ). For an accidental overapplication of blush, this can be used to be wiped gently to get some product on the cloth.
With these three tools, I think I’m a happy mineral makeup gal. They somehow justify or give me more reasons to go back to my loose minerals over and over again! How about you, what’s your secret tool?

These items look absolutely useful! Thank you so much for reviewing them.
I actually picked up some puff jars from Everyday Minerals to have a way to safely store and use minerals in my purse.
I think the buff palette looks like something you could make at one of those do it yourself pottery places. Currently I use a tiny metal bowl or the lid of my mmu.
I’m probably odd, but I apply moisturizer, let it sink in, and then apply my eyeshadow first, before I put on my foundation. Once my eyeshadow is on, I clean up any spills with my makeup remover. Then I can apply my foundation without the risk of it getting mussed.
I think of the 3 of those, the cloth might be really useful.
Another cheap tool I use to save my bathroom counter: I buy the wax paper hamburger patty sheets. You can get them from restaurant supply stores - they’re 5″ square sheets that I use to tap out my powder and swirl. Gives me plenty of room (I’m a klutz; my aim isn’t so great, LOL) to swirl, and when I’m done, just throw the sheet away!
