Mineral Makeup Review : Putting Aromaleigh Rocks to the Test

One of the mineral makeup brands that interests me is Aromaleigh. It’s just too bad they don’t ship here to the Philippines. Nevertheless, I’ve been fortunate enough to get some samples care of the Mineral Makeup Girl and I got more from a friend of Nikki’s, another Mineral Makeup addict.

This has been sitting in my stash for a couple of months:

Nice, glittery stuff. When I received them, I was absolutely clueless on what to use them for. Hence, I waited for the day I can actually put them to good use. Until last night, out of sheer boredom, I decided to challenge myself yet again.

Aromaleigh cosmetics describe their Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonic Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow as:

This collection of 80 shades spans the rainbow… whether you wish to be sparkling, matte, shimmering or flat-out glowing.

The Rocks! eye collection is the result of years and years of requests for more vivid colors. Yes, lots of women love the simplicity of mineral cosmetics and the creativity of loose powders and also have a yen for colors on the wild side!

We consider Rocks! to be a hybrid mineral/cosmetic product, in that it combines the simple, natural world of mineral cosmetics with the high impact of pigments used in traditional cosmetic products.

So how did the “Rocks” fare? Application was a cinch. I used my e/s brush to pack color on my lids. It went on smoothly and it’s really pigmented. A little sure goes a long way. I only had a bit of difficulty in making the lightest color, Avalon show up. Sure, I decided to foil it. But after drying, it went back to its lackluster form. I hadn’t any problems in the two darker colors I used: Oceanrain and Moonage daydream. They looked even better on my lids!

Here’re the swatches to give you an idea of what I used in my evening look:

on the inner half of my lids

on the outer half of my lids and to line my lower lashes

on the outer “V” and crease, and to line my upper lashes

From the above swatches, I came up with teal eyes. Teals, like greens are absolutely my favorite eye color. They just make my dark brown eyes pop! And for the upcoming holidays, they’re just perfect for evening dates and parties. ;)

Face of the night:

My teal eyes:

For eyeshadow mavens out there, Aromaleigh Rocks is a real must try! Now you have all the reasons to get one, two, three, or maybe even more of the eighty shades they offer.
