I don’t own that many lippies but reading all those reports about lead in your lipstick (either they’re true or not) made me all the more wary about buying traditional ones. Luckily for us mineral makeup addicts, companies have made their own lipsticks and glosses using more natural ingredients.
I have only tried a few of them but enough for me to have my favorites.
Silk Naturals
This new company has one of the most moisturizing lippies around. I have them in Indulge lipstick and Birthday Suit lip gloss. Both these shades are neutral giving the perfect YLBB shade to anybody’s lips at the same time keeping them moist. It lasts a fairly long time as long as you don’t lick them off and gives just enough shine to your lips. Both formulas have creamy consistencies in tubes with the glosses applying more sheerly than the lipsticks. And for the price, you can stock up on all the colors you want (like what other mmu lovers did). There are a good variety of neutral shades to choose from plus a few dupes of popular brands’ shades.
Aromaleigh
They just recently reformulated their lip glosses and from reviews, the new formula (gloss infusion) is better. I have the lip gloss Yum in the old click-pen packaging (which was reviewed previously by Crissy in another entry), 2 full-sized tubes of the lipstick in Cognac and Honey and a couple of samples in Brandy and Cameo. These AL lipsticks I love! So far, they are the most pigmented and longest lasting for me. They don’t dry up the lips and they smell wonderful with a cocoa scent. They are creamy and smooth, much thicker than the glosses. Shade variety is a lot from cool to neutral to warm tones.
The She Space
A few months ago they had limited edition lip junks and I got one in their best selling shade Mystic. The lip junks are glosses with a cocoa scent (the LE ones). Like lippies from other companies, they are also very moisturizing. It is creamier than Silk Naturals glosses, more pigmented and lasts longer on the lips. The lip junks are available in the regular line with very unique shades (like all Heather’s pigments).
J. Lynne
J. Lynne has the lip creams and the Gloss FX lip glaze. The lip creams are the lipsticks in lip balm style tubes. It wasn’t as moisturizing for me as the other previously mentioned companies and is a bit hard in the tube but they are pigmented. The lip glazes are very sheer and don’t last as long on the lips. However, they’re moisturizing and smooth and give a slight tint of color on the lips.
The Natural Source Camouflage Color
This is a mineral makeup company originating from Australia. I have only 1 full size tube in Pink Pebble (which my mom borrowed and never returned). Packaging is very sleek and it is moisturizing on the lips. It’s not as creamy as the other lippies but it does not dry out the lips either. It is one of the very few lipsticks that doesn’t change color on my mom’s lips. A bit expensive compared to other companies and color choice for the lipstick is a bit limited but they have other lines for lips, eyes and face that are very interesting.
