Our new contributor Joyce has been raving about Meow ever since she got her hands in it. Here’s a review of Meow Minerals, according to her.

I recently tried Meow Cosmetics, and I must say, it IS NOW my Holy Grail foundation. I had a previous Holy Grail foundation, but when I tried MEOW, I knew it was my new HG.
I tried 3 formulas, namely Purrfect Puss, Pampered Puss, and Flawless Feline.
To describe the three formulas of Meow Minerals,
Purrfect Puss: The website says that, “Purrr-fect Puss foundation is our original sheer, matte, layerable-coverage mineral foundation utilizing the latest light refraction pigments for a youthful dewy appearanceâ€
It is so true! It feels so light and sheer, so perfect for summer. I used this during my stay in a public hospital, where there is no air conditioner, where walking under the sun is a must, plus humidity galore to boot! Downside is that it doesn’t last that long. I would say, 6 hours max. It didn’t pose a problem because I have a tub of foundation in this formula. I can reapply whenever I want, the tub is humongous, I don’t know if I can ever finish it. The finish is not chalky nor itchy, has light coverage, and somewhere between matte and dewy. It just perfectly melds in my skin. I would say this would be purrrffect for a gal who likes the nothing-is-in-my-face feeling. You can get away with no spritzing with the mist too. Overall, I am very happy in this formula.
Pampered Puss: The claim is “Pampered Puss has the same coverage, texture and feel of our original Purrr-fect Puss, but it’s formulation has been completely redesigned with the most delicate and irritation prone skin in mind. “
I have a somewhere between normal to semi-sensitive skin. I can’t use minerals with bismuth oxychloride in it because I itch like crazy! Some mineral makeup brands make me slightly itchy when it gets humid Take this one for example, after I applied a layer of foundation, then a power-failure happened ( not my favorite happening ) . I can’t leave just yet because I haven’t finished applying my blush. So I waited, waited and waited. For 15 minutes or so – it was getting hot already and I have been sweating profusely. My forehead and upper lip were beaded with sweat. Sweat+heat usually equals itchiness right? NOT in Pampered. I didn’t even itch. When the lights got back, I saw that I still look okay, no trace of cakiness or anything. No reddening of skin whatsoever either.
Flawless Feline: It is described as â€Total Purrr-fection has never been simpler! The best of both worlds! Now you don’t have to have perfect skin, to look like you do. Flawless Feline Foundation is our most intense coverage foundation. Sounds great, right? Typically, though, more coverage = less comfort. “
I maybe in the minority here, but I don’t like this formula very much. First, It becomes chalky even when spritzed with a mist, the coverage is too much for me and my skin type. Don’t get me wrong, I think for a person who needs heavier coverage, it would be totally perfect, but not me. Plus, the cheapskate in me is always comparing prices between this and that. Compared to Purrfect, it has a $10 difference. Being the mineral makeup addict that I am, I gave it another shot. I noticed that you need to apply a lesser amount that you would usually use to avoid the chalky look. That’s the secret of Flawless Feline formula. So maybe that’s value for your money? One layer is enough. You decide.
Purrfect Puss
Pros: Price $16.95 for a 3 oz tub is cheap! light/sheer/dewy-matte, not chalky even with more than a layer applied.
Cons: not as long lasting as compared to other formula, more layers are needed
Pampered Puss
Pros: For the sensitive skin needing extra TLC, medium coverage with 1 layer.
Cons: slightly higher price than Purrrfect, finish is just the same with Purrfect
Flawless Feline
Pros: for those needing the extra coverage, MUST be used when skin gets crazy and would not simply cooperate. I would say value for your money if you compute the minuscule amount you use each time
Cons: $10 diff compared to Purrfect is not easily ignored. Can get chalky when applied much more the usual amount.
Conclusion: First for me is Purrfect, followed by Pampered, lastly Flawless.
I commend Meow for their dedication in the mineral makeup industry. They formulated 3 formulas, 14 breeds and maybe counting? They listen to the needs of the consumers, they have excellent customer service. They are now one of the top brands in mineral makeup, and its no wonder why. With Tammy Lang at the helm, Meow is definitely going places. They value their international customers so much, they are willing to absorb the ridiculous shipping amount.
You need to sample first, and I must say, sample a lot. I have many breeds in Meow, maybe 3 or 4, and then in different formulas too. It is possible, you know. One breed is different from another in a certain formula. I will be featuring my breeds in my next article, so stay tuned!
Mineral Makeup Girl’s Note : Great review, Joyce! This makes me want to try Meow! I can’t wait to actually roadtest the foundations! My feliners just arrived, and are for review soon!
