Mineral Makeup Review : Lily Lolo Minerals

Prelude : This is Nikki’s first time to feature her FOTD on The Mineral Makeup Blog. I say, read on to see how gorgeous she is! - The Mineral Makeup Girl

One of the mineral makeup companies based in the United Kingdom is Lily Lolo. I was lucky enough to try it out a few months ago. Their sample sizes are very generous and they all came in 5 gram jars filled to the brim except for blushes and eye shadows which came in baggies. I got the olive tones in Sahara and Butterscotch since these were described as having strong yellow undertones as compared to their warm shades which are peach. Their foundations have light to medium coverage and are Bismuth-free so no itchies for me. The finish is not matte (no kaolin clay) yet not shiny either. There wasn’t that much difference in the shades I got and both looked good on me so I just mixed them up. I topped it off with their finishing powders in Flawless Matte (Kaolin and mica) and Shine Away (ground clay). It lasted fairly well on me for a whole day most probably due to the finishing powder’s oil-control properties.

One thing that I didn’t like about the Shine Away powder was that it was not finely milled. It was like sand- clumps of sand that has hardened. I had to grind the whole sample jar of powder to make it more like loose powder or else I wouldn’t be able to put it on my face. It was much better after that. Maybe I got a dud in the batch?

For their blushes I tried out Juicy Peach and Tiger Lily. Both are peach in color since I already had lots of pinks and reds from other companies. They went on very sheer. I think I should have gotten shades in the pink or red range because the peaches didn’t show up well on my skin.

Lily Lolo’s eye shadows for me are the best items from this company. I got Golden Pink, Ripe Plum and Chocolate Fudge Cake. They are much pigmented. A very light hand should be used since even just a tiny grain of shadow can show up boldly on the lid.

Here are pictures with me wearing Lily Lolo Foundation in Sahara and Butterscotch, finishing powders in Flawless Matte and Shine Away. Eye shadows are: Golden Pink on Inner V, Ripe Plum on outer V and crease and Chocolate Fudge Cake as liner (with Milan Gelle Drops). Blush is by The Natural Source’ Camouflage Colors in Desert Sunset. Lips are Monave Lipglaze in Petticoat.
