Just recently, a new mineral makeup line was born - and it is from a joint collaboration of master stylist Henri Calayag, and entrepreneur extraordinare Ruby Gan, and the line’s called Mineral Wonders.
I was given the privilege of trying Mineral Wonders to give my honest opinions about it, and here’s what I am about to do!
The Mineral Wonders line, as of today, consists of four mineral powders - Light Beige Foundation, Tulle Mineral Veil, Bunny Hop Cheek Pincher, and Mud Contour/Bronzer, as well as the Blood lip gloss, and a synthetic kabuki brush. They’re being sold in Myth (Greenbelt 5 ) and in Henri’s salon - Henri Calayag Salon, found on the Ground Floor of Greenbelt’s The Residences. ( Philippines. )
I was very giddy to try this first mineral makeup that is manufactured and sold commercially in the Philippines, because they all looked promising. And now, for the lowdown :
Light Beige Foundation
Light Beige Foundation is the foundation in their mineral makeup line. For me, I would consider it as a tinted mineral veil for medium to dark skin tones, or just something that any skin tone/shade would wear on a very lazy day if one did not like to wear makeup on that certain day. It is very very sheer, very very light on the skin, and there is no coverage except for the fact that it evens out your skin tone as you apply layers of these. For people who need coverage and intense concealing, I would suggest either using another foundation, or concealing first before using this. For people with clear skin, this is quite perfect The effect achieved, is bare skin, just made more even, and luminous.
Tulle Mineral Veil
With cornstarch as the substitute for talc in the Mineral Wonders formula, every mineral powder here promises oil control, as Tulle Mineral Veil succeeds in controlling oil while keeping the feel of the skin light as one applies this.
Bunny Hop Pink Cheek Pincher
Amongst all the mineral powders, this would have to be a favorite of mine. As I have said, Mineral Wonders is very very sheer and just lightly pigmented, as compared to other mineral makeup brands, and this blush , even if it looks bright pink on the pot, looks quite refreshing on the cheeks. This has got to be the most deceiving blush that I have ever tried because it perfectly mimicked a pink, healthy flush on the skin. And I mean perfectly. It didn’t even look like makeup! Mineral Wonders being very lightly pigmented, specially on this blush, helped achieve an au naturelle pink, healthy cheeks that glowed of health.
Mud Contour/Bronzer
The color’s a shimmery brown, and I would love to use this for contouring. Most of all, I’m quite excited to bring this with me to the beach. Bronzers are just my bestfriends during summer. Anyway, the shade is skintone-dark, so this would be good for contouring. I haven’t explored much about this - Henri - please teach me how to contour, please? Hahaha!
Blood Lip Gloss
Now, this is one of my favorites too. With me getting frustrated with bold red shades of lippies right now, this is a luscious looking red lip gloss that just makes your lips look yummy, semi-glossy, and kissable red.
Overall, I just have to say that Mineral Wonders is very different from the usual mineral makeup that we try because the mineral powders included in the collection are very, very sheer, and the pigmentation is just really really light. It sort of reminds me of makeup that I used way back in college, wherein I wouldn’t want too much makeup on my face, even coverage - I just wanted to look neat, natural, and very fresh. Even my sister, who’s in college right now, who tried out Mineral Wonders just got everything from me, and told me that she’s using it for school because she didn’t need to cover anything ( she had good, baby skin ), and she just wanted to look incredibly au naturelle.
and oh hey - for the record, no itchies for this line! Yay!
If I would be given a chance and commend Henri for a job well done, I would ask him to make some more, like foundations that give medium to heavy coverage for girls like me, and an undereye concealer. Students would find Mineral Wonders a dream, I bet.
