A few months ago, fellow Mineral Makeup addict Joyce made mention (http://www.themineralmakeup.com/new-mineral-makeup-brand-blusche-minerals/08/06/2007/)
of an emerging Canadian mineral makeup company: Blusche minerals. It’s the Middle English word of blush, according to their website.
At first I was hesitant on trying out the free samples they were giving away. Perhaps I was too preoccupied with other matters at that moment such that the opportunity had passed me by. Come last November 24 & 25, the Grand Mineral Makeup Weekend was held here in the Philippines, and Blusche was on of the participants at the said event.
Then my opportunity came. I was a bit hesitant again to have a makeover. But I gave in since it was for free and you can never say “No” to a free makeover! Lol. It’s always good to be able to test products in the flesh before committing yourself on a full size version. Blusche’s representative, Belle, did such a pretty good job on me using their matte foundation in Crème brulee. I also ended up getting myself a sample baggie and a full size jar of Phoebe, their light neutral matte mineral veil or finishing powder. Plus, they also had a loot bag with more samples to the attendees.
Before I give my two cents on their products, let me just share to you some thoughts from the Filipina (yes, she is a Filipina!), the woman behind Blusche minerals: Monica Flores.
Officially we started our company 5 months ago, and the company was started from the ground up. Believe it or not it is only me and my husband doing all the work to make things happen. I did a lot of research, trial and error and even bought materials and books to improve our own blend of MMU. Working till late in the morning mixing and formulating the correct color tones for different skin type. When we opened our website for free samples I received a lot of feedback good and bad. We take all the bad feedback and make it as our inspiration to improve what we have to adjust to what people said. That’s why you will notice we already got old and new formula; it was a result of research and actual feedback from user and customer of Blusche Minerals.
We manufacture our own products, we do all the packaging labels and design. Online store is being maintained and updated by my husband, as well photographs, brochure banner and etc.
I have to struggle balancing my work with my 2 little kids, being fulltime housewife it is so hard to get things done during the day. So it is not an easy 5 months but I am happy when people appreciate and really like our products. All along we have targeted Philippines as our main market because of the fact that there are no dominant MMU brands yet and not yet available commercially. So all our preparations is for Filipino customer, having that in mind we make sure we have a good balance of quality products but yet affordable. One big factor to help us achieve is to shoulder the costly international shipping from Canada to Philippines. I received a lot of emails people appreciating our local shipping methods in our online store. We dedicate part of our online store to Philippines alone and the rest is for Canada and International countries.
For the next year we are planning to continue to provide affordable and high quality products, there are a lot of room for improvements and expansion.
We listen to what customer says and we make necessary adjustment if needed. Sana magustahan talaga ng Filipino ang products namin. (We really hope that Filipinos would like our products.)
After trying out sample sizes of their foundation and jar of the mineral veil (which was on sale), I went and got more of what they have to offer; the most notable of which is their velvet matte foundation in Crème Brulee, a small jar of Phoebe (old formulation) and a blush! Monica was kind enough to throw in a sample of Grass eyeshadow, a green, not-at-all grassy color with a subtle pearlized finish and low shimmer.

What I love most about their foundation is that it stays on much like higher end brands and gives a healthy, creamy finish! The coverage is comparable to others I’ve tried, without the heavy feeling.
I think they reformulated the foundation in accordance to feedback that some found it chalky. When used with Phoebe mineral veil, they’re such a good tandem! I was able to put it to the “ultimate test,” during my clinical work at the hospital. At the end of the day, I only needed to blot my oilies away, and I’m still looking fresh! This is probably one of the HG (Holy Grail) foundations in my list.
Here’s me using the following products:
- Blusche mineral primer
- Velvet matte finish in Crème brulee
- Phoebe matte mineral veil
- Grass shadow as liner (mixed with sealant)
- Blushing pink blush
Swatches (foiled and taken under fluorescent lighting with flash):

And after hours of malling:

Oil blotting papers are all I need and some mineral veil for touch-ups.
Just in case you’re wondering, the neutral eyeshadows I used are from other MMU brands. Notice how the green compliments the neutrals. The eye look is inspired by fellow MMU addict Phoebe.

Need I say more? Blusche Minerals is a really promising brand of MMU. The sooner you try them, the better!
The Blush Vixen

hi! i came across this post amidst my search for MMU. i got a pot of blusche bronzer from a recent bazaar and would love to try more of blusche products. however, i lost the number of the local seller/distributor so i cud get updates on their bazaars & products. help!!
well, I saw blusche mmu at cash and carry in makati. you might wanna go there.
but my question is, what are the ingredients in this mmu? because i’m doing a little research on them and i found out that some have bismuth that can irritate and allation (forgot the spelling) can help improve skin. so does blusche mmu have this ingredients? and i didn’t know they manufacture them here. i thought it was internal and they were just local distributors.
Katie : So sorry! please visit http://www.blusche.com, i dont have their number
Lae : no bismuth for blusche
not to worry, they’re okay
Katie, sorry too, for the late reply. i also don’t have their local number. but you can contact Monica through e-mail: monica.flores@blusche.com she replies pretty fast.
hi Lae! As far as I’m aware of, Blusche products contain a combination of any of the following: Mica, silica microspheres, iron oxides among others, but not bismuth oxychloride.
