Mineral Makeup News : The Body Shop To Release Own Line of Mineral Makeup!

It was only last weekend when I casually strolled in the beauty section of the department store to see mineral makeup being sold at the Cover Girl booth. I also saw L’Oreal, and Revlon having mineral makeup of their own. Despite my opinions about existing brands offering their own line of mineral makeup ( my only stand is that they really do manufacture real mineral makeup and not just plaster the word “mineral” on the label without understanding the essence of what real mineral makeup is), I am actually seeing alot of people being more and more curious with the concept of mineral makeup, as well as being open to the option of using them.

The Body Shop, this year, has been focusing on some initiatives, and one of them is a new brand motto, “Nature’s Way To Beautiful” that paved way to their new nature’s wellbeing line. They also have an upcoming mineral makeup line to be launched very soon, a naturally-inspired line called “Nature’s Minerals”. How soon? Very very soon, which is later this month.

I’m very much excited to check out this line, but what I’m more excited about is checking its label. There’s still this small hope in me that some commercial brands would really make real mineral makeup.

I would love to see how the body shop does with minerals!

TBS is under L’oreal management. L’oreal’s mineral makeup contains what it shouldn’t contain – talc & bismuth. I’m not holding out for TBS not containing those 2 ingredients but I’d be more than happy to be surprised by them.

Weird how they work in different countries! I read on another blog that she actually bought it (Malayasia) last week. No mention of the ingredients though. I went to their US (and Global) website(s), and there’s nothing listed for Nature’s Minerals yet. The closest is their Loose Powder. If that is any indication of what this Nature’s Minerals is, I agree with Audris. Don’t hold your breath. Look what their loose powder has in it (lotsa NOT nature stuff):
Talc (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Nylon-12 (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Polyethylene (Opacifier), Silica (Absorbent), Mica (Opacifier), PTFE (Bulking Agent), Boron Nitride (Bulking Agent), Sclerocarya birrea (Marula Oil) (Skin Conditioning Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Methylparaben (Preservative), Tetrasodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), CI 77891 (Colour), CI 77492 (Colour), CI 77491 (Colour), CI 77742 (Colour), CI 77499 (Colour).

TBS’s mineral make up doesn’t actually have any of the chemicals the L’Oreal priducts do and it was in line to be produced before L’Oreal bought the company. So, don’t rule it out, it’s worth giving it a good…It’s actually a very impressive range!

TBS Mineral make up is faaaaaaaab.

AND it contains no talc or any other nasties.

    100% mineral.

Titanium oxide provides SPF25, mica gives it nice glow and perfect coverage and couple of types of clay makes it sit on your skin properly.

Suitable for the most sensitive skin, in fact for all skin types.

Go in to any branch and ask for demo, BUT you must try it on to find perfect shade.

    Enjoy! :)

And for those that did not know…TBS does not claim to be ALL natural but they do source natural ingredients whenever possible through Community Trade (similar to Fair trade).

So, check your sources before you leave funny comments.

    Adios amigos.

My girlfriend is a Body Shop fan. She always says it kind of reminds her of the first time she went to a Body Shop while in London.

My GF also uses “mineral makeup” that she buys off of one of the shopping channels. I’ll make sure to tell her about the Body Shop having its own line of mineral makeup.

    Audris :
TBS Mineral foundation contains no bismuth. Dun accuse b4 U do actual homework.

    Robyn @ PurelyCosmetics :
TBS Loose powder is not under the minerals series. So yea its not totally natural for their loose powder series. They are 2 different products altogether.

    Dragana :
That was a 2004 list, b4 Minerals series was launched. It doesnt refer to Minerals products which was the later invention in 2008. That list refers to their products then and now excluding the Minerals series. Yes Minerals are natural products, but others are not necessary. Let’s just be glad they keep on improving to provide us better stuffs that ultimately benefit us all, both supporters and accusers.

    Cheers! :)
