Mineral Makeup News : Maybelline Mineral Power Is On!

Okay, I really do think that before the year ends, there will be at least twenty brands that will jump in the mineral makeup bandwagon. Mineral makeup is the “it” makeup and is going to an upward trend.

Check out Maybelline Mineral Power.

L’Oréal is adding a mineral line to the Maybelline New York brand. Mineral Power will launch in January 2008, and although the launch comes years after the first mineral makeup line appeared on shelves, company executives are confident that the line will do well.

The line will include a foundation, pressed powder, concealer, loose powder and blush that incorporate triple refined micro minerals and are talc-, fragrance- and oil-free.

I haven’t had a chance to try Maybelline’s new mineral makeup line, but Jazmin from MakeupMoxie has tried both the loose powder foundation and the liquid foundation, and came up with a review of both products. Check them out!

What I liked most about Jazmin’s entry about Maybelline Mineral Makeups is that she warns people that not all brands that offer “mineral makeup” are REAL mineral makeup just because they claim that it is mineral makeup. Here’s her paragraph about it.

Important Note: Don’t fall for the mineral marketing trap! The fact that this product is marketed as “Mineral Power” makeup that contains “micro-minerals” really doesn’t mean much. The small amount of minerals that this product actually contains is also present in a number of liquid foundations that have been around for a long time.

Furthermore, this foundation contains all the chemicals and preservatives that are typical of many liquid foundations.

You know what? I totally agree. Instead of wholeheartedly believing when the label says MINERAL MAKEUP , do not head over to the counter at once, and take a minute or two to check the back label for the list of ingredients. Do they look like they’re not very different from traditional makeup? Do they still have foreign-sounding chemicals, or preservatives? If there are, chances are , they are not pure mineral makeup, or even mineral makeup at all. Up to what extent of tolerance you would have for ingredients, is up to you.

So , has anyone tried Maybelline Mineral Power? I’d love to hear some feedback!

Hey Sophie! Thanks for the mention. I’m so glad you found my reviews interesting!

To be fair, the Mineral Powder Liquid Foundation doesn’t appear to have any “bad” ingredients in it that are known to be particularly irritating for the skin. From what I could tell, it even looks like it actually has less ingredients than many other foundations out there.

Nevertheless, the formula doesn’t appear to be anything unique!

This product is AMAZING. I’ve been using it since late December and there’s nothing else I’d rather use. The only bad thing is that the liquid foundation gets really oily after a while. But other than that, I love the loose powder. I use it every morning. It’s 10x better than all that expensive crap! Trust me, I’ve tried it all!

I just purchased 3 products from the new Maybelline Mineral Power Makeup line last night. I absolutely love it! I’ve tried them all, even Bare Escentuals, being a loyal customer for 4 years. But this new line of Maybelline I would say is better than Bare Escentuals! I even bought the foundation of which I didn’t think I would like because I do not like the heavy feel that foundation gives. But this foundation goes on beautifully (I used the Pure Beige color) and my skin looks flawless and actually looks younger! I also purchased the Mineral Power Concealer and also the mineral powder foundation in Pure Beige to change off from the foundation. I hope this line stays permanently! Its a bargain compared to the top brands and works just as well, if not better! I’m a fan!!!

I have been using Au Naturel Glow since they opened in September of 2007. People say my skin glows, which is funny as that is the name of the company :) . Anyway if you look at the ingredients and read the website they only contain 3-4 healthy ingredients and even help heal your skin of acne and rosacea. I have looked at the ingredients of Loreal, Avon and various brands and found them to be packed with at least 20 ingredients that are terrible for your skin. I would encourage the readers of this Blog to learn about minerals and what is healthy for your skin and all the chemicals can be harmful. Remember not all minerals are alike. Thank you.

I just purchased the Maybelline Mineral Power’s and I must say, I really love the loose powder. The foundation is a bit different, but I mainly use it around my eyes, and then regular foundation on the rest of my face. But that Mineral Loose Powder is awesome! For years I have had this red chest area, It was always red. I put it on my face, and the powder seemed to make me look like my skin was perfect. So I dipped the brush into the lid like the directions said, and I applied the loose powder to my chest area, where it’s always has that reddish rosacea look to it. You know what? IT covered that reddish stuff up, and it looks just like the rest of my skin. I was totally amazed. I am 44 years old, and since using these products, I get compliments all the time on how radiant my skin looks.

Yes the makeup industries will probably jump on the bandwagon, and join the Mineral Power into their lines, but I must tell you…what ever they put in that, it makes your skin feel and look great.

Now I can wear tank tops again, and actually feel confident that my neck and chest area can actually match my face. It’s a good feeling. Thanks Maybelline. :)

I used the Mineral Power Foundation by Maybelline and so far my skin has been very very oily. I thought maybe it had to do with my new job and the air, but it really isn’t. I like the makeup itself. It blends really nice, but the oily part is super annoying. I’ve decided to buy a face primer… hopefully that should help.
