This next topic about using mineral makeup for certain skin problem is very very sensitive to me, because no one taught me how to combat this problem and I dealt with this on my own. But now that I’ve found out how to combat it, I’d like to share with this to the world because people who have uneven skin are not hopeless. Take for example, me *smiles*
Uneven skin is different from uneven skin tone. Uneven skin can take in form of crater, or depressed scars, or even pores that are too big that look shrunk scars. What’s depressing about them is that no matter how much makeup you put on your skin , they will still appear as such as it is irreversible ( except for aggressive dermabrasion , continuous skin peeling, or Fraxel/Pixel treatments ). We can only do so much as we can make it look less visible or noticeable.
The most important thing for uneven skin is a primer. A silicone-based primer. It’s thick enough to “fill in” the scars and decrease the scar/pore depth by at most, 50%. Cream/lotion primers would not work for this one. Thing is, not everyone’s skin reacts well with silicone primers, and should roadtest it before taking the plunge! Recommended products : Smashbox Photofinish Primer, Bare Escentuals Primer, Camelia Rose Primer, Monistat Anti Chafing Gel, Cargo Blu Ray Mattifying Primer.
After your cleanse, tone and moisturize routine, apply a thin layer of primer all over the face. That should do it ! Next, for the foundation. Mineral foundations can actually decrease the look of uneven skin, would you believe? I’ve looked hard for the past year to find the right mineral foundations, with the right texture, that can do this. The answer? Get the thick, full coverage ones. The coarser, the better.
The coarser the feel of the mineral foundation you have over there, I feel, would give really thicker coverage that can make the pitted scars look less noticeable. Just remember to buff it evenly using a kabuki brush ( animal hair, most recommended ). If it turns out too thick, and you like that effect , to “normalize” or make it natural, there’s only one trick - a spray of moisture mist, and everything looks creamy, with almost perfect complexion!
If you’re not too happy with the texture of your coarse mineral foundation, you can always top it off with a layer of your finest-textured mineral foundation, or any mineral foundation that gives awesome, flawless finish. Well, mission accomplished!
Any thoughts?

Hey,
Awesome post. Was wondering if anyone had a list of mineral products by company. Of the big names off the top of my head, Avon, Kao, L’Oreal, Beiresdorf, Estee Lauder, Clarins, Coty, Guthy Renker, Henkel, Johnson and Johnson and Unilever?
