Just lately, I don’t know why I’ve been IM-ed with beauty questions. Here’s one!
Dear Mineral Makeup Girl,
I’m having trouble using makeup, specifically mineral makeup ( which I am using right now ) in the midst of this warm weather. How do you make mineral makeup stay on the face, and not cake during the summer? I need to wear makeup for my apprenticeship in this prestigious law firm and I want to look my best.
Lawschool Girl
Dear Law School Girl,
Well, first of all, best of luck with your apprenticeship! I’m sure you’ll do great. Yes, I agree that looking good is definitely a plus, for in the corporate setting, image is a big factor on how your bosses see you, having an outstanding academic record is impressive, but they will be more wowed if with how presentable you are as lawyers invest not only on their brains, but also on how they present themselves to their clients.
Well, to answer your question, it is indeed uncomfortable to wear makeup during the summer, as the weather is so warm and perspiration is most expected when you are outside the office. If your skin is flawless to start with, then skip the foundation, and just apply finishing powder. A tinted shade of finishing powder would be great to even out the skin tones. If you need coverage on the other hand, apply finishing powder first, apply foundation, but make sure that your mineral foundation is buffed well, do not just sweep it like you do during normal days as sweat may cause it to cake up. Buff using a flat top brush or a kabuki, in circular motion, to make your foundation application even. Then after your last layer of finishing powder, spray with moisture mist to “seal” the makeup application for it to last longer.
Oh, and not to mention, if you want to skip the blush, just go for the bronzer – it’d do good as a blush, too!
Be armed with oil blotting papers, and do not rub your face , or “wipe”. Carefully dab, dab, and dab to keep makeup intact. It would help to bring with you some finishing powder to retouch!
Hope that helped!
Sincerely,
Mineral Makeup Girl

i just bought my first mineral foundation, Monave. I’m having trouble applying it too since I’m not really used to foundation in powder form. Thanks for the info! Especially about the moisture mist. I have the one from Bench. Does anyone know if it’s any good? Any suggestions for good facial mists?
