Mineral Makeup Chronicles : Joyce

A little something about me. I am Joyce. I am a self-confessed mineral makeup addict. Well, I am here to share with you my encounter with the wonderful exciting world of mineral makeup!

Like most people out there, I had my bouts with teenage acne, and although, I won, but not without scars and bruises. I am acne-free right now,( Thank you Lord ) but I do have my occasional bumps and zits and the not so flawless skin. It’s a pain looking at yourself at the mirror and seeing the unevenness of your complexion. Why cant I have it all? *sigh*
Before I bumped into the mineral makeup world, I was using a drugstore brand that really did nothing for me, it didn’t aggravate my skin or whatever, but didn’t give me and my ego a boost. And then I chanced upon a thread “The Mineral Makeup Thread Part II”. I used to pass by this thread because never in my life 8 months ago did I hear these terms. What the heck is mineral makeup?. And Part2? So is this like a cult? And curiosity got the better of me. I peeked at the last few pages, from what I gather these women who praised Bare Escentuals / other mineral makeup for the wonderful flawless skin they have, the glowing complexion and many admirers they did acquire. Actually it’s the latter that really interested me to try mineral makeup. Kidding aside, I back read more pages, and I read Sophie was collecting orders for the free mineral makeup from Everday Minerals. I pm’d Sophie right away, but sadly, orders for free samples are finished but Sophie said she will give me samples of EDM from her own collection and it is all for FREE. Can you believe it? And when my samples arrived, I eagerly tried them. I can say that Im amazed. Im converted right away. I looked flawless albeit the wrong color selection. And so I ordered from various MMU companies. I tested a lot. I found out that each company have their own “crème of the crop” and Im glad to be able to try them. Mineral makeup totally rocks! I look fab, my friends told me im glowing and skin is flawless. I know its not, but they don’t. I didn’t tell them my secret.

I can say this is the catalyst for my mineral makeup addiction. I should have sensed it back then, the telltale signs of looking at different sites at past midnight, having ghost carts, staring open mouthed at the different foundation shades and debating which would suit me better, which blush makes me look more alive, and the inevitable, signing up for a credit card to satisfy my mineral makeup fix. Buying mineral makeup in its various form ( blush, foundation, eye shadow, finishing powder, and more) in any given day. Not satiated in any way. The post man must be thinking that Im nuts to have deliveries from US stating mineral makeup. He must be thinking im eating these!
