We are so happy to have another addition to our awesome bunch of contributors here - I mean, more heads are definitely better than one since mineral makeup is not an objective thing to discuss - it’s very much subjective, and the “fit” varies depending on skin types, and we are glad to acknowledge that variety so that we can help everyone relate to their skin problems and mineral makeup needs.
Nikki, aside from being a mineral makeup addict, thrives in the activity called, “roadtesting samples”. Yes, she is a sample addict that wants to try all the mineral makeup possible, to find her Holy Grail - she’s that determined! She’s also leaning towards making her own , or tweaking mineral makeup with some ingredients - quite interesting, huh!
So without further ado, let me introduce you to Nikki!

“Hi! I’m Nikki and I’m a mineral makeup addict.”
Now, how many times have I heard these words (but with different names at the start) in more than a year? Such is a person’s fate once you’ve tried mineral makeup.
Like most ladies out there, my addiction started with Bare Escentuals more than a year ago. After trying out samples I got hooked. I then got bigger pots of the foundation, veil and concealer and different samples of blushes and eyeshadows. I even got my mom to use the products. After a few months I learned that there was more to mineral make-up than BE. In fact there was a whole new world to discover and lots of new friends to make. I started to try out Everyday Minerals, PureLuxe, Ocean Mist, Monave, Lumiere, etc. To date, I have probably tried close to 20 brands of mineral makeup. Sampling is so addicting that even if you think you are saving by just buying samples, you tend to buy from different companies so they do add up. (It’s the international shipping that eats up most of the budget, though.) Even if I have found my HG foundation, I continue to sample.
The funny thing is that I’m a stay-at-home mom to my precocious almost 3-year old daughter and I only go out once or twice a week yet I have all these make-up at home. And it is for this reason that I find mmu so addicting. I browse the net anytime I want to (when not busy) and find new companies to try out. It gives me a high to get small packages in the mail (or to get the packages at the post office located so many miles away, ugh!). I find ways to share my discoveries by swapping or reselling the items (to make money for more mmu!) or chat about them with other mmu fans. I also frequent mineral makeup blogs and forums to learn new things about it.
Just this week, in fact, I tried pressing a few of my minerals. I had so much fun but I’ll tell you all about it in another article. I’m even planning to make my own finishing powders as soon as I complete my ingredients.
Ahh, the life of a mineral make-up junkie. It just never stops, doesn’t it?
Nikki
