Nah, this isn’t about the latest hit in music. You came to the right blog. This time I wanna share a very recent fave of mine from Milan Minerals.
Milan Minerals has gotten a lot of raves from my fellow MMU addicts. Their gel liners, a cult favorite, if I’m not mistaken, are similar to that of MAC fluidlines. They definitely have a lot of goodies to try! As I was browsing their site, a wave of frustration swept over me. I can only feast my eyes on the pics since I can’t purchase anything online because I still don’t have a credit card. On second thought, it’s a good thing ‘coz I’m unable to practice my impulse buying habits.
So anyway, I still got to purchase some goodies through my friend Joyce, another self-confessed addict. She was taking orders then and I knew it was one and only chance.
It was kind enough of her to give me a sample of Pretty in Pink (the remix) blush along with the 20++ samples of MMU I hoarded, err, ordered I mean.
I didn’t order that much blushes from Milan. I knew I had way too many. And to be honest, none of the selection appealed to me. Maybe except for Peachy Keen and Playground, which looked way too glittery in their baggies. A quick glance at the sample Joyce gave me, I had almost dismissed it as a bright, bright pink that I would never dare wear. The kind of pink that would remind you of the 70’s and bellbottoms and disco fever! I swear! Haha. It’s scaaary pink! Or so I thought…
Don’t get me wrong, I like pinks. But it’s as if I was almost going to pass for this one. Well, almost. Today I gave it a chance since I didn’t feel like looking too made up. I was just going to the mall for a facial and maybe warts removal too (Yeah, I shouldn’t be telling you that. It didn’t push through anyway. ). After applying the gel liner in Magnetism and curling my lashes, I proceeded to put on some of Pretty in Pink. And OMG! I look so healthy! Having medium-toned skin with lots of yellow and golden undertones, I never would have imagined a shade of pink this scaaary is going to turn out really very pretty. From MilanMineral Cosmetics:
This is the ABSOLUTE perfect pink for African-American women with dark complexions. Although it appears neon, it isn’t. This pink will actually show up pink on a dark complexion. Great on lips. The beauty of minerals is that most are 3 in 1 products! This shade is great on lips or as a blush”.
Now that’s a more than good enough description. In my opinion, it would flatter even the not-so-fair skin types like me.
This is definitely one of my favorite pink blushes, not that I have a lot on my list. Lol. I remember Joyce telling me what a “refreshing shade of pink” it is. Refreshing indeed!
The Blush Vixen

Wow im mentioned! *blush* Glad that you liked it val!i like it too =p
What do you recommend as blushes for warm-toned, dark skinned, black women? I know that NARS blushes in crazed look great on me, even though I probably would never have chosen them on my own.
Hi!
While waiting for the Blush Vixen to answer, I have a few reco’s : Valerie Beauty’s Smokin Mocha, Monave’s Sultry Brown and Desert Rose, Larenim’s Goddess Glo Bronzer, Spiced Apple by Lumiere, Barefaced Minerals’ Cinnabear, hmm I’ll think of more!
Sophie is right. Try the spiced apple. Super nice and long lasting too
thanks! it’s wonderful to finally get some reco’s from the pros!
hi liz! aside from the above recommendations, you might wanna try Milan’s Pretty in Pink too.
here are some of my other recos: Bare Escentuals’ Blush Pearl and RSVP, Meow Cosmetics Orgasmic, Monave’s Winter Mauve and Neutral Pink, Lumiere’s Hibiscus, and Alima’s blushes in Sahara and Cerise.
for women of color, it’s fun to experiment esp when it comes to blushes. i just steer clear of pinks and peaches which are too light or intended for those with really fair skin. at times, they don’t show up on my complexion. hope my reply isn’t a little too late.
so the blushes that you raveabout are suitable for dark skinned black women?
hi Elizabeth Rose! thanks for asking.
in fairness (no pun intended), i am of medium-toned Asian skin. the blush recommendations i mentioned works for me and they will most probably work for darker skin tones too. these will show up, but at times, can be light. if you want deeper blushes, you can go for deeper colors. experiment with deeper shades. maybe you can find a gem in your search…
