I must admit, liquid mineral makeup such as Illuminare Cosmetics really makes me struggle in the application department. I have all these samples in my cabinet that I haven’t started trying because well, I was trying to to keep on using powder mineral foundation because they’re the easiest to apply, but liquid mineral makeup is so challenging, that something in me wants to really go and see for myself the effect, the second time around. Last time, I applied on too much that I felt my skin had a mask on.

Great thing that Illuminare Cosmetics has released its first ever how to tutorial on how to apply their liquid mineral makeup! I’m so excited that I’m going to be using my Illuminare samples soon and have them up for a review, as I watched this very, very useful video!

So, what do you think? I have noticed that all the makeup brushes used were synthetic and used for liquid makeup, even for blush, they used a foundation brush for it. This is very intriguing. Also, the girl on the video applied such a small amount. Take note, a teeny weeny amount! As compared to my last Illuminare application, I think I applied too much. Haha!

I am just the opposite. I have trouble applying powder mineral foundation without it looking cakey and making my pores look like moon craters.I have tried using a small amount and gradually build the coverage but it still makes my small imperfections look larger than life. This is even with applying makeup primer before hand. So what I do is after applying my sunscreen moisturizer, I mix some powder mineral foundation with my favorite primer (monistat anti-chafing gel) and apply to my face. I conceal any blemishes by applying a lighter mineral powder foundation only to the red spots and undereye circles. Next, I finish with my favorite finishing powder with a regular synthetic powder brush and my face looks a lot more smooth and pores/acne scars look a lot smaller than if I were to apply the powder mineral foundation the conventional way.
