For the past few months, I have been camera-shy to share my picture of me wearing minerals, and well, slowly, I am coming out of my shell to post to share to the world what great effects mineral makeup does on the skin. Well, I’m starting off with an Eye of the Night, that I sported last Friday in a birthday dinner of a relative.
This was the perfect chance for me to roadtest the Coastalscents Mineral Makeup that I have received this month. Here is what I did with my eyes :
Pre-eyeshadow application : applied eye primer
1. I needed a neutral colored base to start things off, and applied Lusty all over lid. Lusty is a part of Coastalscents’ Fall 2006 Collection, and is described as, “a creamy light satiny beige powder with low sparkle. “.
2. On the outer V, I wanted a dark color to give some depth, and attention to my eyes. With that need, I applied Fawn on the Outer V of my eyes. Fawn is also a part of the Fall 2006 Collection, and is described as, ” one of the richest brown tones, silky like a deep dark melted chocolate. Fawn is beautiful used for shading effects and can also be applied wet or dry as a liner.”. I love this color so much! It’s a beautiful glimmery brown with some gold, almost like copper, but with stronger brown hues.
3. On the other half of my lid ( aside from the outer V ), I felt the need to have a deeper, but lighter color than Fawn, for I wanted to apply another color over the base, Lusty. I reached for the Sheer Radiance All Over Face Color and applied it on the other half of my lid. Sheer Radiance is somewhat peach and fleshy, for it was formulated to be applied on the cheeks, and the shade was darker than the beige Lusty. It worked quite well, with the color Fawn.
4. Last, I targetted the area of my inner V to the brow bone. I reached for my crease blending brush, got some Champagne Shadow, and traced from my inner V all the way to my brow bone, or maybe shaped my entire lid with it ( see the lightest color there in the picture? ). It finished the eye makeup quite well for Champagne is the perfect brow highlighter and shadow for the inner V. Champagne is described as, “soft & satiny, just the kissed touch shade of tan pink.”
Post-eyeshadow application : Lined eyes with indelible gel liner in Chocolate Mousse
I was pretty satisfied with how my makeup turned up that night. To further review the quality of eyeshadows that Coastalscents have, they are actually very finely milled, and are really easy to blend on the skin. What I like about Coastalscents is that all their mineral makeup are finely milled ( perhaps the most finely milled that I have ever tried ), that I don’t have any problems with the chunkiness of the shimmers. The eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented, that I need not get alot of product to produce such vivid results. The staying power is also superb, that despite my oily skin, I went home after a few hours, checked myself in front of the mirror, and saw my eye makeup stay put, and still very fresh like it looked like when I first applied it.
More Eye of the Nights, or maybe Face of the Day/Nights to come!
