Currently Playing With Bramble Berry Mineral Makeup Kit

Yes, if little girls have their Barbie dolls, I have my own toys. Check out my Bramble & Berry Mineral Makeup Kit! My kit happens to be an Eyeshadow Kit in Neutrals and Metallics, and I am ready to play!

Bramble Berry came up with mineral makeup kits for those who want to experiment and make their own shades of eyeshadows and mineral makeup. Let me confess to you that I have really tried making minerals on my own, but with the lack of time, and for reasons I don’t know, it just seems not to be an area of expertise of mine! hahaha! But really, I am trying!

The kit comes in generous amounts of base products such as Dry Flo, Super Pearly White Mica, Sericite Mica, Titanium Dioxide, and Kaolin Clay. Aside from that, there are stackfuls of pure mica, about nine basic shades that you can mix to be able to come up with nice shades according to your liking!

With this kit, I was sent this sample – an absolutely gorgeous shimmery light brown eyeshadow, which I instantly fell in love with,

Gulp. Will I be able to make it? Wish me luck, ladies! I shall report with my results soon!

It actually sounds like a lot of fun to mix your own color!

OMG, I remember my first foray into making my own shadows (that’s what I started with; it seemed the easiest)! Powder EVERYWHERE! My poor carpet will never be the same. Not to mention taking it outside to look at it in daylight, spilling it (I’m a huge klutz), and then having my dog walk through it. A white dog with purpley-pink paws!

Here’s a couple of tips and tricks (if they’re not already mentioned in the book):
Write down everything you do. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve mixed some micas just to see what color I’d get (I’m color wheel challenged), ended up loving the shade, and never able to reproduce it again!

If you’re using a coffee grinder (which you need for the titanium dioxide), depending on the type that you’re using, get some Press N Seal plastic wrap and put that over the top before putting the lid on. It’ll keep the powders from spewing out all over the place.

Wear old clothes – preferably something tye-died, since you’re gonna look that way when you’re done anyway!

Decorative Diva : It’s been messy! Haha!

Robyn : Thanks for the tip! My room’s so messy and playing with oxides just makes my hands too “dyed” hahaha! Thing is, Ive started with foundation! I think I will be stopping there since it’s so hard to please my skin!

That looks like so much fun!

I can’t wait to hear how it goes.

Robyn, I bet your dog looked cute with purpley pink paws.

    Poor thing!

Can you use all mineral makeup as multipurpose? If not, how can you tell if you can if it’s not marketed as multipurpose? I was at the mall this weekend, and this woman pulled me aside to show me the wonders of mineral makeup and she used it in a multipurpose way. Thing is…I don’t remember the name of the brand.

Also, is the Bramble Berry kit for multipurpose use?
