Mineral Makeup Guide: Good Skin, Part Two

Wednesday 27 August 2008 @ 10:33 pm

Here’s part two of the mineral makeup guide for good skin. With having good skin, there are also inevitable things in life such as stress, lack of sleep, some minimal acne, or some dryness. Here are some tips!

Applying Concealer for the Under Eyes
There are moments when sleep is scarce, and the lack of oxygen circulation around the undereyes causes them to discolor and darken. Not a good sight, but this can be momentarily corrected with a yellow mineral color corrector in loose form.

For my first installment of guides in mineral makeup application, this one’s called Mineral Makeup Guide : Good Skin. What is good skin? Well, some of us are blessed with good, low-maintenance skin that are clear and flawless to start with, but some of us are challenged with some problems of oiliess, blemishes, scars, some pigmentation, and even aging. Mineral makeup makes every skin look good, if I may say. No buts, only one - we have different application tips for different skin conditions! For those who have good skin to start with, here’s a guide on mineral makeup for you! Mineral Makeup Tips : Good and Bad Skin

Monday 25 August 2008 @ 11:28 pm

Starting tomorrow, I thought I’d continue writing entries about mineral makeup tips with the growing number of newbies! With that, I’ve thought of writing a series of entries - maybe just one, for good skin, and maybe two for bad skin. I don’t know if it’s politically correct to call us who have problem skin “bad skin” ( please, by all means, let me know ) , but I will be enumerating several skin conditions, and how to use mineral makeup to alleviate and combat that certain problem.

Mineral Makeup Tool : Mineral Essence Retractable Kabuki Brush

Friday 22 August 2008 @ 8:45 pm

A mineral makeup convert knows that once he/she gets immersed to the world of mineral makeup, the sponges and powder puffs slowly exit their way from the new mineral makeup convert’s dictionary. All there will be left, are makeup brushes. Makeup brushes are the only tools that will work great with loose mineral makeup.

I’ve had the Mineral Essence Retractable Kabuki Brush and I can say that this works best with mineral foundation. It’s very dense, and the quality of the brush is just superb. The body ( the silver part ) is plastic, and is very sturdy, and as you pull off the cap and twist out the brush, you see a dense-looking kabuki. Very, very dense indeed with packed, short bristles that can guarantee instant coverage. I’d be lying if I said this brush did not shed a bit as retractable kabukis tend to shed more than normal makeup brushes, but the shedding stops after the supposed “shedding period”, as shedding is just minimal in this kabuki brush.

Mineral Blush of the Week : Pure Anada’s Matte Berry

Friday 22 August 2008 @ 12:15 am

I’ve been a bit tired from the shimmery mineral blushes lately, and I’ve been on the hunt for nice , matte mineral blushes. This week’s pick : Pure Anada’s Matte Berry Mineral Blush.

The Matte Berry Mineral Blush is described as “a basic cool pink.”. For me, it pretty much looks normal and neutral on the baggie that I have ( I purchased the 12-piece samples from them ), and I was stunned on how pretty it looked on my cheeks. No shimmer, just a touch of color on my cheeks. Plain and simple. Just the way I like it. I think I’d want to wear this blush everyday. The shade is just right for light to medium skin, it’d show up as a lovely pink flush. No red, just something light on the cheeks. Petal-ish.

Mineral Makeup Look : Skin Alison Raffaele Liquid Foundation

Tuesday 19 August 2008 @ 3:52 pm

Yesterday, I was able to do makeup for my sister’s photoshoot, and it was just the perfect opportunity to roadtest the liquid mineral foundation that I’ve been hoping to work nicely - Skin Alison Raffaele’s Liquid Foundation. I’ve been wanting to collect good mineral makeup with the hope of one day, I will be able to have a traincase full of just mineral makeup for me to take on the road. It’s quite a challenge, especially here in my country where everything is humid and melts pretty easily.

Results? Here they are.

Mineral Makeup Update : Pure Anada Mineral Foundation Swatches/Review

Thursday 14 August 2008 @ 11:40 pm

I was so so happy yesterday as I came home with two packages. One from Purely Cosmetics ( which I finally nailed the shade, yay! review’s for tomorrow!) and one is the package from Pure Anada. My co-mineral makeup lover pal Aileen sent me samples of mineral foundations in Mountain View and Ivory Chinook ( which is good for fairly light warm skin tones ) , and I was not able to find my shade in them, but was able to find a very good ( no not just very good, but extraordinarily good! ) mineral foundation in Pure Anada! So imagine my glee when the samples I ordered finally landed.

Amongst the 12 samples worth $9 (with free shipping, isn’t that great? ), I immediately grabbed the three foundation shades: Golden Harvest, Soft Wheat, and Mountain Sunset. ( on the first photo, from L-R, and Mountain Sunset is at the bottom ) Here are swatches on my tissue paper :
