Mineral Makeup Review : Go Minerals Cream To Powder Foundation

Wednesday 10 September 2008 @ 11:31 am

I’ve been using liquid or cream-based foundation lately for my work, since it’s too messy and tedious to bring with me loose minerals on photoshoots. I personally love loose mineral foundation, but I definitely need a car, and a very secure train case equipped with lights and all those platters to keep me sane as I use them for work.

Aside from Skin Alison Raffaele, I am still on the lookout for really good mineral makeup that can perform as well as traditional makeup, in the professional sense. I stumbled into Go Minerals Cosmetics, and I was given a chance to try their Cream to Powder Mineral Foundation.

Mineral Blush of the Week : Pure Anada’s Matte Berry

Friday 22 August 2008 @ 12:15 am

I’ve been a bit tired from the shimmery mineral blushes lately, and I’ve been on the hunt for nice , matte mineral blushes. This week’s pick : Pure Anada’s Matte Berry Mineral Blush.

The Matte Berry Mineral Blush is described as “a basic cool pink.”. For me, it pretty much looks normal and neutral on the baggie that I have ( I purchased the 12-piece samples from them ), and I was stunned on how pretty it looked on my cheeks. No shimmer, just a touch of color on my cheeks. Plain and simple. Just the way I like it. I think I’d want to wear this blush everyday. The shade is just right for light to medium skin, it’d show up as a lovely pink flush. No red, just something light on the cheeks. Petal-ish.

Mineral Makeup Look : Skin Alison Raffaele Liquid Foundation

Tuesday 19 August 2008 @ 3:52 pm

Yesterday, I was able to do makeup for my sister’s photoshoot, and it was just the perfect opportunity to roadtest the liquid mineral foundation that I’ve been hoping to work nicely – Skin Alison Raffaele’s Liquid Foundation. I’ve been wanting to collect good mineral makeup with the hope of one day, I will be able to have a traincase full of just mineral makeup for me to take on the road. It’s quite a challenge, especially here in my country where everything is humid and melts pretty easily.

Results? Here they are.

Mineral Makeup Review : Purely Cosmetics Skin Smoothing Mineral Foundation

Saturday 16 August 2008 @ 12:19 am

From the moment I received the Purely Cosmetics Skin Smoothing Mineral Foundation in Maria, a deadringer shade for medium and warm skin, I’ve been wearing it for two days straight to roadtest. In this blog, you might notice that I’ve been reviewing foundations more than any mineral product ( well, I have a few blushes and eye products set to be reviewed next week ! ) because I believe that mineral makeup is amazingly life-saving in this department- the face. Even traditional makeup could not give this much flawless finish to the face like mineral makeup does, with added benefits, and being non-irritating as well!

Mineral Makeup Update : Pure Anada Mineral Foundation Swatches/Review

Thursday 14 August 2008 @ 11:40 pm

I was so so happy yesterday as I came home with two packages. One from Purely Cosmetics ( which I finally nailed the shade, yay! review’s for tomorrow!) and one is the package from Pure Anada. My co-mineral makeup lover pal Aileen sent me samples of mineral foundations in Mountain View and Ivory Chinook ( which is good for fairly light warm skin tones ) , and I was not able to find my shade in them, but was able to find a very good ( no not just very good, but extraordinarily good! ) mineral foundation in Pure Anada! So imagine my glee when the samples I ordered finally landed.

Amongst the 12 samples worth $9 (with free shipping, isn’t that great? ), I immediately grabbed the three foundation shades: Golden Harvest, Soft Wheat, and Mountain Sunset. ( on the first photo, from L-R, and Mountain Sunset is at the bottom ) Here are swatches on my tissue paper :

Mineral Makeup Review : Purely Cosmetics’ Silk Powder

Wednesday 13 August 2008 @ 12:02 am

For oily skinned people, it is just a struggle to keep the face shine free. Mineral makeup is heaven-sent as it does not clog the pores ( when skin is oily, the bigger the probability of pores getting clogged ), but it’s still a struggle to find the best product to control those oilies.

Three ingredients that are precious to the discriminating mineral makeup lover who suffers from oilies : kaolin clay, silica, and silk powder. I’ve tried the first two, and I just kept on ignoring my friend who kept on professing about silk powder because kaolin clay and silica can only bring me up to some extent for oil control, but not totally.

I was able to try Purely Cosmetics’ Silk Powder one Saturday afternoon when my skin was peeling so bad. I was loading my face with lots of moisture mist, but I still made sure that I had some oil control because of my face having greasy tendencies. Purely Cosmetics’ Silk Powder felt very very light and it felt like I was not wearing any finishing powder at all ( this is lighter than most finishing powders ) but the finish was faintly flawless -faintly in the sense that it gave out a sheer flawless finish to my overall look.

Mineral Makeup Review : Alice Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow in Sage

Tuesday 5 August 2008 @ 10:35 pm

Fall’s all about smoky eyes, and gray just happens to be a nice shade of eyeshadow that can look a bit more subtle than the typical black smoky eye. I’ve seen it in a few magazines abroad, and it further lured me to get a gray eyeshadow for myself! It’s just so elegant, but it also looks edgy!

I found a sample of Alice Cosmetics in Sage, and I must say, it is a very beautiful green-grey shade! I was able to pull of a nice colorful smoky eye ( sigh, I wasn’t able to take a picture! ) with Alice Cosmetics Amethyst Eyeshsadow, on the 1/3 of the lid, and Alice Cosmetics in Sage on the remaining 2/3 of the lid. I was able to get compliments that it was a nice smoky eye, and I didn’t really intend it to be smoky eyes, but rather, just a new style of eye makeup that I am adapting.

Mineral Makeup Review : Lumiere’s Fresh Roses Mineral Blush

Friday 1 August 2008 @ 10:00 pm

Lately, I’ve been looking for matte mineral blushes instead of shimmery mineral blushes, probably because I have too much shimmery minerals already! It’s quite a challenge to find matte mineral blushes, and I think I’ve found a very precious one from Lumiere Cosmetics called Fresh Roses.
