Mineral Makeup Brushes 101 : Choosing The Right Brushes!

The Mineral Makeup Blog’s first entry was about the kabuki brush. My very first mineral makeup brush was a kabuki brush. Its stubby handle stands out from the conventional long-handled face brushes. My first kabuki brush shed a lot, which made me switch to a flat top brush. I was very happy using a flat top brush until I got my hands on the famous BE Kabuki. Continue Reading »

Jen Gaum , Mineral Fusion expert and makeup artist ( I pressume ), did a great job in introducing mineral makeup to the viewers, as well as answering questions about mineral makeup. Turquoise is here again to review something that makes her mineral makeup glide in perfectly onto her skin. Something I love as well, the Monave Flat Top Brush! – MMG

Monave makes great mineral makeup. Monave Angel Setting Powder is a personal favorite. In fact, it’s the first full sized mineral makeup product that I’ve ever bought. Aside from their mineral makeup line, their Mini Flat Top Bronzer Brush is my Holy Grail brush. I don’t use any other brush to apply mineral foundation. I bought the Mini Flat Top Bronzer Brush on a whim since I read reviews from co-mineral makeup addicts, and I was looking for a dense brush to replace my shedding kabuki. Continue Reading »

Naked Minerals is a new mineral makeup brand in the block, and it boasts of its “naked effect” and “polished healthiness” on the skin. Naked Minerals believes in natural beauty, as it wants to enhance it, rather than making it look like stuff were loaded on the face.
For those who are complaining about loose minerals getting messy, Naked Minerals hears you as they have their products in pressed form to be brought anywhere, anytime , looking fresh and polished without getting the clothes stained. The pressed minerals come in four shades ( Light, Medium, Dark, Extra Dark ), and there is no need to worry about skin tones. One half of the foundation is warm, and the other half cool. Mix it, and you get a neutral shade!

They call it eyeshadow-liner. They call it dual-purpose. I call it heaven-sent! Why? Well, there are tons of reasons! Read on.
First, the eyeshadow and eyeliner in one we are talking about takes in form of minerals that look like loose powder. To use as an eyeshadow, just use an eyeshadow brush to get some product, apply, and you’re ready to go. Darker shades would be perfect for smokey eye application, to be applied below the crease area.

It seems that for every type of mineral makeup there is also a different technique to apply it. Now, each company may have slight differences in their makeup that when it is applied a certain way will make it look or adhere better. However, there are some very basic guidelines to applying mineral makeup that will work with almost any brand you buy. Of course, it’s always preferable that you develop your own personal style- your own touch. You know how you like your makeup to look, so practice, practice, practice until you get your application method how you like it. After all, it is your face. Continue Reading »
