Last weekend, as part of my course, we were tasked to bring home our false eyelashes, and as an assignment, to decorate them. Our instructor suggested glitters to decorate them, while I, bringing along ziploc baggies of multi-purpose minerals, was so game in using them to transform my plain, black false eyelashes to the most ostentatious and whimsical ones!
Well, I wasn’t able to create the most dazzling ones, but hey, I was able to successfully color my falsies! Continue Reading »
Decorating False Eyelashes With Multi-Purpose Minerals

To be totally honest, the one and only makeup brush by Bare Escentuals that I’ve loved with all my heart would be their Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush. Maximum coverage is maximum coverage, alright, as you can definitely see successful camouflaging areas from small to big, and it’s really heaven-sent.
I’m not really impressed, with their other face brushes on the other hand. Take for example, their Flawless Face Brush. I don’t like how rough the feel was on the skin. I lost faith on Bare Escentuals face brushes, but just recently, I decided to get one of them, and to my surprise, it was heaven.

Mineral Makeup Brush Love : Bare Escentuals Heavenly Face Brush

I spent the weekend holding a workshop on how to apply makeup to ladies who want to achieve a more polished and made up ( natural look ) for the office. I had so much fun, and of course, I had much more fun introducing to them the concept of mineral makeup. I think I need to plan a mineral makeup workshop soon. I’m getting excited! I just love, love, love teaching. Nothing gratifies me more than imparting knowledge and spreading the mineral makeup love!
Going back to topic, I was praising my dual fibre brush during the entire time being of the workshop because it does not only work wonders for liquid foundation, it’s also a miracle worker for mineral makeup. The Dual Fibre brush, is well, dual fibre because it is made up of animal hair ( in this case, pony ) and synthetic hair. It is miraculous in the sense that it picks up just about the right amount of product that you don’t need to apply too much pressure – just lightly apply on the area, and it’d glide in like an airbrushed finish product. Amazing.

Mineral Makeup Tools : Rediscovering the Dual Fibre Brush

In my opinion, loose minerals still perform the best amongst all kinds of mineral foundations. For me to use cream, liquid or pressed minerals, I would either be in a hurry, or want to save some space in my bag, but loose minerals still reign in terms of performance – coverage, staying power, and finish.
Thing is, it’s also the messiest form of minerals. You spill some product here and there, sometimes to your black top ( which has happened to me ALOT of times already ), stains your bag, and loose mineral eyeshadows can also fall under your eyes and make your look extra messy.
A latest discovery of mine comes from Alice Cosmetics. Alice Cosmetics is a mineral makeup company, that aside from offering mineral makeup ( that I shall review very soon ). Three tools that can aid you in managing loose minerals – the Buff Palette, Eyeshadow Guard and Mini Miracle Cloth.

Mineral Makeup Tools from Alice Cosmetics

Prebuy specials are a one of a kind chance to get good tools for your makeup application at a fraction of the price. Sure, you might be waiting for a couple of months before your order arrives. But trust me, it’s worth the wait. And I can say that with Blusche’s prebuy special.
Around February to March, Canada-based mineral makeup brand held its very first prebuy special, offering a synthetic flat top and brush set. They are pre-ordered and were set to arrive this May. And both are perfect for those who want their beauty tools cruelty-free.
I received my package last week, and to my surprise, I was caught by a rather “mini”-flat top brush. The size if perfect for travel, and fits into my makeup kit with so much ease! I’ll surely be bringing this around. As for the softness, I think I’m swaying more into synthetics! I didn’t wait anymore to put the brush into a test. It did not disappoint. Minerals glided smoothly and evenly onto my face, as the soft bristles brushed against my skin. I can’t keep from buffing and buffing!

Mineral Makeup Brush Review : Blusche’s Synthetic Flat Top
Having seriously dark undereyes had been a problem since the word stress and insomnia introduced themselves to me. Thank heavens for mineral makeup!
With Bare Escentuals’ Well Rested and Ocean Mist’s saffron yellow concealer, I am able to look my best everyday. As if I had a good night’s sleep. Here’s a before-and-after shot of me with and without concealer:

Looking for your HG (holy grail) concealer is quite tedious, just as finding the perfect tools in giving you bright undereyes. I must admit it took me over a year (yes, I’m turning one year with mineral makeup!) to almost perfect applying concealer. And to be honest, I still am using a cream concealer from a non-mineral makeup brand to help in the staying power of my loose powder concealers. I rarely have any problems anymore, except when I over-apply too much product. I ended up looking like a panda, only that it’s a weird, yellow circle around my eyes. Lol.

The Grand Mineral Makeup Day in Manila held during the Bazaarnival in Greenmeadows was a huge success. Girls and boys who were interested in mineral makeup flocked to the airconditioned function room of the bazaar to inquire, have their free makeovers, get their lootbags, and do some mineral makeup shopping. I have never imagined so much people who are interested with mineral makeup!
Let me just say that this was the ultimate mineral makeup wonderland in the country for two days? Never have I seen so much mineral makeup. It was like the absolute heaven for mineral makeup addicts to see a great variety of mineral makeup, that they can see up close in one location! I was lost in the vast sea of color, loose powders, and makeup brushes. Ahh, the weekend that commenced made me depressed as I am now in the real world! It was a dream world!

Grand Mineral Makeup Weekend in Manila!

I woke up extra early today because it was my baby sister’s big day – her graduation picture day. Well, ya know I’m not a morning person for sure, but I really did try!
Here’s what I did for my baby sis ( who is not a baby anymore, I guess. ). Only the best for her – mineral makeup ! I don’t want to be hurting her baby skin that I wish was mine!
1. First, I applied moisturizer on her since her skin seemed to be dry on some areas.
2. Second, I applied a mix of Monave Hyeyeon and Caroline Concealer Foundation using a flat top brush to ensure that her foundation would stay put all throughout the day. She told me she was having a speech practice before having her shot taken, and I am not taking any chances.
