A Mineral Makeup FOTD For Graduation Picture

Friday 9 November 2007 @ 12:37 am

I woke up extra early today because it was my baby sister’s big day – her graduation picture day. Well, ya know I’m not a morning person for sure, but I really did try!

Here’s what I did for my baby sis ( who is not a baby anymore, I guess. ). Only the best for her – mineral makeup ! I don’t want to be hurting her baby skin that I wish was mine!

1. First, I applied moisturizer on her since her skin seemed to be dry on some areas.
2. Second, I applied a mix of Monave Hyeyeon and Caroline Concealer Foundation using a flat top brush to ensure that her foundation would stay put all throughout the day. She told me she was having a speech practice before having her shot taken, and I am not taking any chances.

Makeup Happiness: Frenzy with Eyeliners

Tuesday 9 October 2007 @ 10:45 pm

Ah, yes! The Blush Vixen is back, this time, to rave about liners.

By this time, most of you know that I’m truly addicted to mineral blushes and currently sustaining another addiction to mineral eye colors. But wait, it just doesn’t end there. I’ve also discovered a liking to eye liners. Not the pencil kind though, the ones I played with when I was younger used to smudge, giving me the infamous “panda eyes.” I found them quite hard to apply, perhaps because I didn’t really know how to use them in the first place. Haha.

Mineral Makeup Review : Milan Gelle Drops

Friday 5 October 2007 @ 11:03 pm

For those of you who love to line their lids with mineral pigments, have you tried using Milan’s gelle drops? I’ve tried using those sealants sold by different mineral makeup companies in place of water to create a liner from my mmu pigments but they still smudged and faded away. I had my bottle of Milan gelle drops for a few months now but forgot about it when I discovered the ease of using gel liners. Continue Reading »

Monave Multi-Purpose Minerals : Sizzling Sultry Swatches

Thursday 27 September 2007 @ 10:49 pm

It is one of the few instances wherein I would courageously grab my camera to take swatches – for the longest time, I have been frustrated in taking good pictures and not all have come out the way I want them to be. I even got myself a DSLR, and to my dismay, I couldn’t let it work my way, so there, it goes to my sister who is studying photography next semester ( yay, maybe I could make her take pictures next time. ) Thank goodness, this “photoshoot” of some swatches of the latest Sultry Collection ( though some are not ) of Monave Minerals have come out just fine – using my trusty point and shoot camera ( that I swear I’ll never take for granted, ever again. ) Continue Reading »

Mineral Makeup Review : Lily Lolo Minerals

Wednesday 26 September 2007 @ 10:46 pm

Prelude : This is Nikki’s first time to feature her FOTD on The Mineral Makeup Blog. I say, read on to see how gorgeous she is! – The Mineral Makeup Girl

One of the mineral makeup companies based in the United Kingdom is Lily Lolo. I was lucky enough to try it out a few months ago. Their sample sizes are very generous and they all came in 5 gram jars filled to the brim except for blushes and eye shadows which came in baggies. I got the olive tones in Sahara and Butterscotch since these were described as having strong yellow undertones as compared to their warm shades which are peach. Their foundations have light to medium coverage and are Bismuth-free so no itchies for me. The finish is not matte (no kaolin clay) yet not shiny either. There wasn’t that much difference in the shades I got and both looked good on me so I just mixed them up. I topped it off with their finishing powders in Flawless Matte (Kaolin and mica) and Shine Away (ground clay). It lasted fairly well on me for a whole day most probably due to the finishing powder’s oil-control properties.

Outdoing Myself with Milan’s Pigments

Friday 21 September 2007 @ 7:44 pm

When boredom strikes, what better way to keep it at bay than to play with minerals! And I’ve got Milan Mineral Cosmetics to thank for that. ;)

I often browse beauty blogs to update myself with trends and techniques in makeup application. Once I saw a pretty shock-ing combination of eye colors courtesy of a popular non-mineral makeup brand. Bright yellows, greens and blues. Who would’ve thought I could do a li’l something similar? Until…

A closer shot: Continue Reading »
