Mineral Makeup Review : Dreamworld Minerals

Thursday 27 March 2008 @ 1:07 pm

Being the mineral makeup addict that I am, I’ve tried quite a number of mineral makeup brands. The latest that I have tried is Dreamworld Minerals. This company’s theme is mythological and ethereal making their product names interesting. What do I have to say about this company?

First of all, their customer service is amazing! Ellie is probably the most helpful mmu owner out there who tries to help each and every Dreamworld customer get their perfect match. You really can not ask for anything more. Second, their website is very pretty (that’s why it won the “Most Attractive Forum” over at Delphi). Third, I found my Holy Grail finishing powder here.

Mineral Makeup Review : Battle of the Sealants

Tuesday 25 March 2008 @ 7:38 pm

Ever had trouble making mineral eye shadows last long on your lids? I do. My lids are very oily compared with the rest of my face. Usually in 2-3 hours any kind of eye shadow creases on me. Thanks to a very good primer I’ve been using I have solved my problem (but that’s another story and not mineral makeup related). I envy those ladies who can dry-line with mineral pigments without having smudges or fading later on.

I am going to compare 3 sealants used to transform mineral pigments as liners. They are: Eye shadow Sealant (sold by most mineral makeup companies), Milan Gelle Drops and Aromaleigh Indelible Sealant.

Mineral Makeup Review : Henri Calayag’s Mineral Wonders

Tuesday 19 February 2008 @ 11:41 pm

Just recently, a new mineral makeup line was born – and it is from a joint collaboration of master stylist Henri Calayag, and entrepreneur extraordinare Ruby Gan, and the line’s called Mineral Wonders.

I was given the privilege of trying Mineral Wonders to give my honest opinions about it, and here’s what I am about to do!

The Mineral Wonders line, as of today, consists of four mineral powders – Light Beige Foundation, Tulle Mineral Veil, Bunny Hop Cheek Pincher, and Mud Contour/Bronzer, as well as the Blood lip gloss, and a synthetic kabuki brush. They’re being sold in Myth (Greenbelt 5 ) and in Henri’s salon – Henri Calayag Salon, found on the Ground Floor of Greenbelt’s The Residences. ( Philippines. )

I was very giddy to try this first mineral makeup that is manufactured and sold commercially in the Philippines, because they all looked promising. And now, for the lowdown :

Mineral Makeup Loves the Undereyes!

Tuesday 12 February 2008 @ 10:44 pm

Having seriously dark undereyes had been a problem since the word stress and insomnia introduced themselves to me. Thank heavens for mineral makeup! :D With Bare Escentuals’ Well Rested and Ocean Mist’s saffron yellow concealer, I am able to look my best everyday. As if I had a good night’s sleep. Here’s a before-and-after shot of me with and without concealer:

Looking for your HG (holy grail) concealer is quite tedious, just as finding the perfect tools in giving you bright undereyes. I must admit it took me over a year (yes, I’m turning one year with mineral makeup!) to almost perfect applying concealer. And to be honest, I still am using a cream concealer from a non-mineral makeup brand to help in the staying power of my loose powder concealers. I rarely have any problems anymore, except when I over-apply too much product. I ended up looking like a panda, only that it’s a weird, yellow circle around my eyes. Lol.

Looking Natural with Silk Naturals

Wednesday 30 January 2008 @ 10:51 pm

There are days that a mineral makeup addict can get rather tired of looking made up. So why not go for natural, no-makeup look? Yes, that is possible with MMU! And what better way to achieve this look than with Silk Naturals, a budding MMU company whose not-so-secret ingredient is real silk powder.

Upon browsing their online catalog, one can avail of most of their products in affordable sample sizes. With their free shipping a few months ago, I knew it is the perfect chance to try out what they have to offer. And being the addict that I am:

I got a little bit of this and that. Massive, isn’t it? :D

Mineral Makeup Review : Oceanmist Cosmetics Mineral Foundation

Tuesday 22 January 2008 @ 11:46 pm

I was able to stock up some Oceanmist products a few months ago as they had a buy one, take one sale on their products. Mineral makeup sales are just so darn tempting because the promos are so generous! I was able to buy 2 full pots of Saffron Undereye Concealer (yeah, one can never have too much of this, this is a miracle worker ), and I decided to try again their foundation. Months ago, when Oceanmist first opened, they had limited shades, that hindered me from getting my shade. With their additional shades that had golden ( or yellow ) undertones in them, I was able to pick two shades to try : Lilia and Dandelion

Mineral Makeup News : Maybelline Mineral Power Is On!

Wednesday 16 January 2008 @ 8:33 pm

Okay, I really do think that before the year ends, there will be at least twenty brands that will jump in the mineral makeup bandwagon. Mineral makeup is the “it” makeup and is going to an upward trend.

Check out Maybelline Mineral Power.

L’Oréal is adding a mineral line to the Maybelline New York brand. Mineral Power will launch in January 2008, and although the launch comes years after the first mineral makeup line appeared on shelves, company executives are confident that the line will do well.

The line will include a foundation, pressed powder, concealer, loose powder and blush that incorporate triple refined micro minerals and are talc-, fragrance- and oil-free.

Blusche Minerals’ Phoebe Mineral Veil

Monday 14 January 2008 @ 11:05 pm

This one’s quite a popular mineral makeup product already since a friend of mine shot a “stock photo” of it. Haha, by the way, her name’s Phoebe, and shes a mineral makeup addict, too.

I was able to receive a sample of this from the lovely Monica last Holidays when Blusche and Beauty and Minerals were boothmates for two bazaars. Amongst others, I was always interested in trying out mineral veils because I am always in search for those with great oil control, flawless finish, and light-reflecting properties that would help you forget you had imperfections. Mineral makeup is just like that *wink*

Mineral Makeup Review : Blusche Minerals

Thursday 3 January 2008 @ 10:09 pm

A few months ago, fellow Mineral Makeup addict Joyce made mention (http://www.themineralmakeup.com/new-mineral-makeup-brand-blusche-minerals/08/06/2007/)
of an emerging Canadian mineral makeup company: Blusche minerals. It’s the Middle English word of blush, according to their website.

At first I was hesitant on trying out the free samples they were giving away. Perhaps I was too preoccupied with other matters at that moment such that the opportunity had passed me by. Come last November 24 & 25, the Grand Mineral Makeup Weekend was held here in the Philippines, and Blusche was on of the participants at the said event.

Then my opportunity came. I was a bit hesitant again to have a makeover. But I gave in since it was for free and you can never say “No” to a free makeover! Lol. It’s always good to be able to test products in the flesh before committing yourself on a full size version. Blusche’s representative, Belle, did such a pretty good job on me using their matte foundation in Crème brulee. I also ended up getting myself a sample baggie and a full size jar of Phoebe, their light neutral matte mineral veil or finishing powder. Plus, they also had a loot bag with more samples to the attendees.
