I’ve always been on the lookout for that perfect pressed mineral makeup out there. Mineral makeup is fairly new, as compared to traditional makeup, and trying to make pressed mineral makeup can be quite a challenge, doing away without preservatives, and binders that sometimes compromise quality.
When I came across the brand Colorescience, I was very curious about how it fared since it was the brainchild of Diane Ranger, mother of mineral makeup, and the founder of Bare Escentuals. Colorescience is an elite mineral makeup line that seeks to reconcile skin care and color ( makeup ) as it facilitates a good healing environment in the skin that highly complements dermatological procedures such as facial peels, laser procedures, and so much more.

Mineral Makeup Review : Colorescience Pressed Mineral Pigment

The first time I roadtested Illuminare Cosmetics, I had trouble blending their foundations. I skipped, and just went on trying other brands. But with alot of satisfied customers, I began to think, was it something I did wrong? After a year or so, I decided to get trial sizes again to see how it’d fare on me. Yes, I don’t really give up!
From Illuminare Cosmetics‘ website, their liquid mineral foundation has 3 formulas,

Mineral Makeup Review: Illuminare Cosmetics Liquid Mineral Foundation

It’s been way back since I featured Colorescience Mineral Makeup. I think it was one of my first posts in this blog, but it is only last month that I had a very good chance to play with the products.

Colorescience Sunforgettable SPF 30 Brush

Aubrey Organics is one brand that I’ve been hearing for a long time already, but it is only now that I got the chance to try it. When I saw their printed product catalog, I was immediately surprised with how much products they have – their products range from skin care, to anti-aging products, hair care, and of course, mineral makeup! Well, once the term mineral makeup was brought up to me, I said it was perfect to review for The Mineral Makeup Blog!

Mineral Makeup Review : Aubrey Organics Silken Earth Translucent Base

It’s a bit rare that I review mineral makeup that is sold in department stores, moreso luxury brands. There’s been too much mineral makeup brands that I’m actually getting confused with the plethora of brands, and varieties, but when I see something exceptional, I definitely know it is out of the ordinary!
I’m starting this entry saying that Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Powder must be my dream mineral makeup. I’ll tell you why!
First, it’s still in powder mineral form, the purest form of minerals. I’m not exactly fond of pressed mineral makeup, or liquid mineral makeup, I don’t know why, but my affinity lies in mineral foundations in powder form. Maybe it’s just that it’s in the purest form, in my opinion.

Mineral Makeup Review : Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 20

I’ve spent the entire week roadtesting Earthen Glow Minerals Cover Me Mineral Foundation. I’ve always been fond of full coverage mineral foundation because I find them very useful for everydays – I get to look my best in front of my clients without sacrificing the health of my skin – skin breathes, and skin looks good, because of ample coverage!

Mineral Makeup Review : Earthen Glow Minerals Cover Me Mineral Foundation

To be totally honest, the one and only makeup brush by Bare Escentuals that I’ve loved with all my heart would be their Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush. Maximum coverage is maximum coverage, alright, as you can definitely see successful camouflaging areas from small to big, and it’s really heaven-sent.
I’m not really impressed, with their other face brushes on the other hand. Take for example, their Flawless Face Brush. I don’t like how rough the feel was on the skin. I lost faith on Bare Escentuals face brushes, but just recently, I decided to get one of them, and to my surprise, it was heaven.

Mineral Makeup Brush Love : Bare Escentuals Heavenly Face Brush

I’ve been using liquid or cream-based foundation lately for my work, since it’s too messy and tedious to bring with me loose minerals on photoshoots. I personally love loose mineral foundation, but I definitely need a car, and a very secure train case equipped with lights and all those platters to keep me sane as I use them for work.
Aside from Skin Alison Raffaele, I am still on the lookout for really good mineral makeup that can perform as well as traditional makeup, in the professional sense. I stumbled into Go Minerals Cosmetics, and I was given a chance to try their Cream to Powder Mineral Foundation.

Mineral Makeup Review : Go Minerals Cream To Powder Foundation

I’ve been a bit tired from the shimmery mineral blushes lately, and I’ve been on the hunt for nice , matte mineral blushes. This week’s pick : Pure Anada’s Matte Berry Mineral Blush.
The Matte Berry Mineral Blush is described as “a basic cool pink.”. For me, it pretty much looks normal and neutral on the baggie that I have ( I purchased the 12-piece samples from them ), and I was stunned on how pretty it looked on my cheeks. No shimmer, just a touch of color on my cheeks. Plain and simple. Just the way I like it. I think I’d want to wear this blush everyday. The shade is just right for light to medium skin, it’d show up as a lovely pink flush. No red, just something light on the cheeks. Petal-ish.

Mineral Blush of the Week : Pure Anada’s Matte Berry
Yesterday, I was able to do makeup for my sister’s photoshoot, and it was just the perfect opportunity to roadtest the liquid mineral foundation that I’ve been hoping to work nicely – Skin Alison Raffaele’s Liquid Foundation. I’ve been wanting to collect good mineral makeup with the hope of one day, I will be able to have a traincase full of just mineral makeup for me to take on the road. It’s quite a challenge, especially here in my country where everything is humid and melts pretty easily.
Results? Here they are.
