Mineral Makeup Application Techniques : A Refresher
Last week, I underwent a chemical peeling session. Chemical peels promise to get rid of dull skin cells, as well as make treatments more effective. Chemical peels nowadays have minimal downtime, that combat aging , anti-acne, and even melasma. My problem is acne, with my impossible comedones, and well, just after a few days post-peeling session, when I was about to go out to dinner with my girl friends, I noticed that my skin was peeling, and it was very hard to conceal them even with mineral foundation because they were flaking!
As suggested by the dermatologist, makeup is very discouraged right after the peel, but if it is really needed, makeup can be worn two hours after the peeling session. I think that mineral makeup would be a safer alternative, just in case. Of course, peeling day means as much as possible, no makeup day. Allow skin to breathe at all costs, even if mineral makeup does not clog pores. It’s great to take a break from makeup, whatever kind it may be, for even a day.

Mineral Makeup Tip : After Skin/Chemical Peeling
I’ve been working with dark eyeliners and eyeshadows too much when I started reading about applying whites on the right places -after all, applying makeup is more on accentuating our features and bringing out our best assets. Recede the bigger areas, accentuate best features, and make the small areas pop!
To brighten up the eyes, even in a normal day, get an angled eyeshadow brush and apply a white eyeshadow ( it can be matte, or it can be shimmery, all up to you ), on the inner V of your eyelids. Monave Semi-Matte White tops my choice. The Susan Posnick Color Eyedefine in Jetblack liner-Moonstone Shadow ( the moonstone shadow’s the silvery white one! ).

Mineral Makeup Tip : Applying White Eyeshadow/ Eyeliner
The usual technique in traditional makeup for a flawless, well-covered complexion is first, apply liquid foundation, then set it with powder foundation. As I have not yet found the absolute best liquid mineral foundation that covers perfectly, I have discovered a technique from obsessing around mineral foundation to be able to obtain an absolute professional made-up, but natural finish that are good for print ads , TV, or even weddings.

Mineral Makeup Trick : Creating A Flawless Face

Let me just say that the weather’s been impossibly hot lately – today, it reached a sweltering 35 degrees celsius, and will probably be worse in the next coming days. Applying mineral makeup’s been quite a challenge, specially for people who can’t live without coverage like me. Well, whatever it takes, right?
There was a time when I just applied concealer foundation using a concealer brush dry on the problem areas, and spritz mineral mist on my face, then blend from there. It usually worked. But one really hot summer day, I just looked in the mirror with my covered areas all faded out. It wasn’t a good day for me! I was thinking that the weather might just shatter my dreams of flawless skin, but then, I switched back to my old technique, that absolutely saved my summer. It holds up even with the really hot weather and does-not-melt! Yay!
This is my old, and maybe, we can call it a classic wet application technique, that I wrote way back :

Mineral Makeup Technique : Making Concealer Stay on a Hot Day

Everyone knows we should use a yellow-toned concealer to banish those pesky undereye circles, otherwise known as Panda Eyes. The Mineral Makeup Girl raves about yellow mineral makeup. Using yellow minerals such as Bare Escentuals Well Rested and Summer Bisque is part of my makeup regimen. However, one The Mineral Makeup Blog reader posted this intriguing comment:

“i thot salmon was the best colour to conceal under eye circle?

Battle of the Undereye Concealers: Peach/Salmon vs. Yellow
When boredom strikes, what better way to keep it at bay than to play with minerals! And I’ve got Milan Mineral Cosmetics to thank for that.
I often browse beauty blogs to update myself with trends and techniques in makeup application. Once I saw a pretty shock-ing combination of eye colors courtesy of a popular non-mineral makeup brand. Bright yellows, greens and blues. Who would’ve thought I could do a li’l something similar? Until…

Outdoing Myself with Milan’s Pigments

I’m not a big fan of traditional multipurpose makeup, or makeup that can be used on your eyes, lips, and face. Its consistency doesn’t work well for all three areas. Plus, it can look sticky on the eyes, dry on the lips, and streaky on the cheeks. While multipurpose makeup seems practical, I believe that there’s a better alternative – multipurpose mineral makeup.
Multipurpose mineral makeup takes versatility to a whole new level. It can be used as eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, eyeliner, nail color, body shimmer, and even hair mascara. It’s easy to mix multipurpose mineral makeup into other kinds of makeup because its consistency is loose and powder-like. Best of all, multipurpose mineral makeup doesn’t irritate your skin, because it’s made of minerals.

Turquoise is here again to share to us her experience with mineral eyeliners!
If there is one makeup item I thought I can live without, it’s eyeliner. Whether it’s a powder, liquid, or pencil, eyeliner is such a hassle to put on. It tugs your eye when you apply it, smudges when you wear it, and reddens your eyes when you remove it. I thought I’d be lucky switching from traditional eyeliner to mineral eyeliner the same way I converted from traditional foundation to mineral foundation. Girl, I was wrong.
Mineral eyeliner is harder to apply, because it’s loose and powdery. Applying it dry leaves excess liner all over your face, while applying it wet requires very precise application. Don’t forget about applying liner with different brushes. Whether the brush is a fine, square, or angled tip, made of natural or synthetic hair, I can’t get the precise line that I want. My hands are not steady, so my eyes looked like a seismograph chart after applying eyeliner. Don’t forget about wet application. Adding water makes it runny, and sealants dry up quickly. I lost hope in applying eyeliners altogether, or so I thought.
