What’s New : Alima Cosmetics River Mineral Eyeshadows

Saturday 18 October 2008 @ 11:28 am

I don’t know, but everytime I check out Alima’s new releases for mineral eyeshadows, I can’t help but be appealed on how soft focus their shades are, totally safe, simple, but stunning nonetheless.

Maybe it’s because they’ve taken their inspiration from nature. This time, they expressed their love for rivers with their Rivers Collection.

Mineral Makeup Brush Love : Bare Escentuals Heavenly Face Brush

Saturday 18 October 2008 @ 12:31 am

To be totally honest, the one and only makeup brush by Bare Escentuals that I’ve loved with all my heart would be their Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush. Maximum coverage is maximum coverage, alright, as you can definitely see successful camouflaging areas from small to big, and it’s really heaven-sent.

I’m not really impressed, with their other face brushes on the other hand. Take for example, their Flawless Face Brush. I don’t like how rough the feel was on the skin. I lost faith on Bare Escentuals face brushes, but just recently, I decided to get one of them, and to my surprise, it was heaven.

Mineral Makeup Mini-Haul : Artdeco Mineral Eyeshadows

Wednesday 8 October 2008 @ 11:30 pm

One day while strolling at the mall, I chanced upon Artdeco, a very under-rated, but very very nice makeup brand. I mentioned way back that they released mineral foundations, that were good enough as deparment store brands ( since most of the brands don’t meet my approval, sigh ). I said hello to the cheerful ladies on the booth, and I got surprised that aside from the mineral foundations they have it pots, they also added something new to their line - mineral foundations in powder-dispensing packaging, and mineral eyeshadows.

Mineral Makeup Tools : Rediscovering the Dual Fibre Brush

Monday 6 October 2008 @ 10:40 pm

I spent the weekend holding a workshop on how to apply makeup to ladies who want to achieve a more polished and made up ( natural look ) for the office. I had so much fun, and of course, I had much more fun introducing to them the concept of mineral makeup. I think I need to plan a mineral makeup workshop soon. I’m getting excited! I just love, love, love teaching. Nothing gratifies me more than imparting knowledge and spreading the mineral makeup love!

Going back to topic, I was praising my dual fibre brush during the entire time being of the workshop because it does not only work wonders for liquid foundation, it’s also a miracle worker for mineral makeup. The Dual Fibre brush, is well, dual fibre because it is made up of animal hair ( in this case, pony ) and synthetic hair. It is miraculous in the sense that it picks up just about the right amount of product that you don’t need to apply too much pressure - just lightly apply on the area, and it’d glide in like an airbrushed finish product. Amazing.

Mineral Makeup Eyeshadows Blend In Better!

Thursday 2 October 2008 @ 12:19 am

Here’s another reason why everyone should have their dose of mineral makeup eyeshadows - they blend in better!

I’ve been conducting lessons lately on how to apply traditional makeup and mineral makeup on girls who want to look more polished and beautiful in the office, and I’ve made them try two kinds of makeup - starting with traditional makeup, and removing it, and going home with their face made up using mineral makeup.

Mineral Makeup Guide : Bad Skin, Uneven Skin

Monday 29 September 2008 @ 11:56 pm

This next topic about using mineral makeup for certain skin problem is very very sensitive to me, because no one taught me how to combat this problem and I dealt with this on my own. But now that I’ve found out how to combat it, I’d like to share with this to the world because people who have uneven skin are not hopeless. Take for example, me *smiles*

Uneven skin is different from uneven skin tone. Uneven skin can take in form of crater, or depressed scars, or even pores that are too big that look shrunk scars. What’s depressing about them is that no matter how much makeup you put on your skin , they will still appear as such as it is irreversible ( except for aggressive dermabrasion , continuous skin peeling, or Fraxel/Pixel treatments ). We can only do so much as we can make it look less visible or noticeable.

Mineral Makeup Review : Go Minerals Cream To Powder Foundation

Wednesday 10 September 2008 @ 11:31 am

I’ve been using liquid or cream-based foundation lately for my work, since it’s too messy and tedious to bring with me loose minerals on photoshoots. I personally love loose mineral foundation, but I definitely need a car, and a very secure train case equipped with lights and all those platters to keep me sane as I use them for work.

Aside from Skin Alison Raffaele, I am still on the lookout for really good mineral makeup that can perform as well as traditional makeup, in the professional sense. I stumbled into Go Minerals Cosmetics, and I was given a chance to try their Cream to Powder Mineral Foundation.

Mineral Makeup Guide : Bad Skin, Oily Skin

Monday 8 September 2008 @ 11:16 pm

Here’s our first installment for our Mineral Makeup Guide, and for the first problem, it’s for those who have oily skin. Oily skin is not really an indication of bad skin, but it can cause breakouts, and it doesn’t look pleasant on pictures. Oily skin is somewhat beneficial in the long run because it has less tendency to look wrinkled unlike dry skin.

Here’s a quick guide on how to deal with oily skin using mineral makeup.

Key Ingredients
Ingredients that oily skinned ones should be on the lookout for are the following : kaolin clay, silica, silk powder, bentonite clay, Cornstarch ( Zea Mays ), Oat Powder ( Avena Sativa ). They all help absorb excess oil on the skin. Mineral makeup that have this can give good oil control, it depends on the skin’s affinity to that certain ingredient, it’s your choice on what works great for you.
