Monave’s Purple-Looking Mineral Blushes

Monday 20 August 2007 @ 7:21 pm

They look quite the pretty peach or pink in the picture, but when I saw them in person, I was really surprised to see that they looked purple!

Star Lily’s a lighter shade of purple that looks scary. And I mean scary. When applied on the cheeks, it transforms into a refreshing pink, that makes your cheeks look slightly flushed, not red, but gives you a faintly pink glow. It’s a gorgeous shade that is admired by many. Continue Reading »

The Blush Vixen’s Mineral Makeup Look of the Night

Wednesday 1 August 2007 @ 2:22 pm

I was home on a Saturday night. Must have been the headache induced by my statistics class earlier in the day that made me just want to have some quality time with myself. And what better way to nurse a headache than to play with mineral makeup!

So I cleaned my face and did the usual routine, sans sunblock (it was already 8pm that time). It was also a good opportunity to test the sample of Coastalscents foundation in Honey light tan. I wasn’t expecting it to be a match, but it was! It blended well with my skin despite the fact that I just had a major breakout, thanks to my upcoming monthly period. And let me tell you, Coastalscents foundation is by far the most finely milled I have ever used! Just by looking at the pot, there is no chunkiness or clumps of minerals.

Back to my eye look, I was thinking of something pinkish to go with Valerie Beauty MPM’s in Wink and Karma. I then reached for Meow Scandal Eyes in Tenacious, described as “Peach w/golden bronze shimmer.” It’s one of my fave lid colors as it complements neutrals, even greens! Using my eye shadow brush, I applied it on my whole lid.

Mineral Makeup Brush Review : Monave Flat Top Brush

Thursday 26 July 2007 @ 7:51 pm

Turquoise is here again to review something that makes her mineral makeup glide in perfectly onto her skin. Something I love as well, the Monave Flat Top Brush! – MMG

Monave makes great mineral makeup. Monave Angel Setting Powder is a personal favorite. In fact, it’s the first full sized mineral makeup product that I’ve ever bought. Aside from their mineral makeup line, their Mini Flat Top Bronzer Brush is my Holy Grail brush. I don’t use any other brush to apply mineral foundation. I bought the Mini Flat Top Bronzer Brush on a whim since I read reviews from co-mineral makeup addicts, and I was looking for a dense brush to replace my shedding kabuki. Continue Reading »

Mineral Blush Review : Monave’s Damask ( Da Who? )

Saturday 7 July 2007 @ 3:23 pm

Monave Damask matte blush

The what? I’m singing praises for one of Monave’s matte blushes, Damask. Well, to be honest, I am not at all that fond of matte blushes or just about anything matte. To me, matte = flat.

Playing with Monave Multi Purpose Minerals

Thursday 28 June 2007 @ 5:54 pm

The Blush Vixen is here, for an eye makeup look! Here’s her artcicle :

I have this thing for eye colors lately. Not to worry, the Blush Vixen will never, ever lose her passion for blush! I’m just exploring what other goodies MMU has to offer.

Tired of my usual look, I took a deep breath and ventured into new territory: applying eye colors. It’s about time I use the Monave multipurpose minerals (MPM’s) that have been lying around and collecting dust in my makeup stash. So one day, I decided to take on a neutral look. It was quite an ordinary day so wearing heavy makeup is a no-no. Here’s a preview of the neutral look:

After putting on the basics and some eye shadow primer on my lids, I used the following MPM’s from Monave: Continue Reading »

Mineral Makeup for Oil Control

Friday 22 June 2007 @ 6:26 pm

by Turquoise

My dermatologist said it’s no surprise that many people have combination skin (that is, your skin is oilier in the forehead, nose and chin). I happen to have combination skin, too. To control the oiliness, I follow a daily skin care regimen and use oil blotting papers within the day. I wasn’t into pressed powders because its finish was downright chalky. Worst of all, I got zits afterwards. Luckily, all that changed when I discovered mineral makeup powders that had oil control properties.

Oil controlling mineral makeup usually contains Kaolin Clay, which is known for its oil absorbing properties. Check out the ingredient list the next time you’re looking for an oil blotting powder. Ingredients such as silica are known to be oil absorbent, but look for Kaolin Clay if you want your oil-blotting powder to be made of pure minerals. Continue Reading »

Monave Radiant Illuminizer

mineral makeup bronzer monave

Hands down, this has got to be the best bronzer! I really love this because the bronze in it isn’t too light that it looks like a highlighter, and isn’t too dark, that makes your skin look ruddy. It simply gives the skin a bronze, healthy glow! I have lots of mineral bronzers here and this is just what I’ve been reaching for everytime I hit the beach! I use this to give my cheeks a healthy flush, and even use it on my shoulders to get this sexy glow on top of my tan, and also use this to contour my tummy to have an illusion of abs! Haha!

Here’s to my perfect summer bronzer!

Mineral Makeup Brand Review : Monave Mineral Cosmetics

Thursday 2 November 2006 @ 9:51 pm

monave mineral makeup

Co-mineral makeup addict Aileen is back for another review, and this time, it’s for Monave! Here’s her take on Monave Mineral Cosmetics :

My love affair with Monave began a little less than a couple of months ago when I excitedly ran over to our mailbox in the hope of receiving a couple of discontinued mineralized skin finishes from a popular makeup brand that I’d ordered online. I was disappointed when what was waiting for me instead was a hefty Priority Mail box that piqued my curiosity. I then remembered that my friend Sophie told me to expect some samples from Monave Cosmetics, and I let out a silent groan. I really didn’t want to test another mineral makeup brand as I was happy with the three brands I’ve been interchangeably using. Continue Reading »
