For the very first time, I am sharing an FOTD that doesn’t feature yours truly, but my little sister who just graduated from her culinary arts course. The Mineral Makeup Girl once did her little sister’s makeup too! Isn’t that just sweet, big sisters primping and prettifying the li’l ones!
When my sister told me maybe I should do her makeup on graduation day, I was totally clueless. Sure, I did attempt to put makeup on her once, like a few years ago, and it didn’t turn out so well. Much that she almost didn’t want me to touch her face ever again! Lol. I guess she changed her mind seeing how often I wear mineral makeup these days.
I have my own ideas. But in playing makeup artist , I made it a point to ask her what look she was going for and what colors she had in mind. Since the event was set a little after lunch, she didn’t want it to be too dark, or smokey or over-the-top. She was aiming for something in neutrals/coppers that would complement her floral kimono dress and rich medium skin tone. I let her pick the colors from my makeup box, mostly in neutrals, golds and coppers. Two nights before, we sort of “practiced” the look so as not to take too much time when I am to actually do her makeup.
Presenting my sister:

And this was taken after, not before the ceremony since we were running late! Here’s her EOTD:

Mineral Makeup Look : Graduation Day FOTD

For those of you who love to line their lids with mineral pigments, have you tried using Milan’s gelle drops? I’ve tried using those sealants sold by different mineral makeup companies in place of water to create a liner from my mmu pigments but they still smudged and faded away. I had my bottle of Milan gelle drops for a few months now but forgot about it when I discovered the ease of using gel liners. Continue Reading »

Prelude : This is Nikki’s first time to feature her FOTD on The Mineral Makeup Blog. I say, read on to see how gorgeous she is! – The Mineral Makeup Girl

One of the mineral makeup companies based in the United Kingdom is Lily Lolo. I was lucky enough to try it out a few months ago. Their sample sizes are very generous and they all came in 5 gram jars filled to the brim except for blushes and eye shadows which came in baggies. I got the olive tones in Sahara and Butterscotch since these were described as having strong yellow undertones as compared to their warm shades which are peach. Their foundations have light to medium coverage and are Bismuth-free so no itchies for me. The finish is not matte (no kaolin clay) yet not shiny either. There wasn’t that much difference in the shades I got and both looked good on me so I just mixed them up. I topped it off with their finishing powders in Flawless Matte (Kaolin and mica) and Shine Away (ground clay). It lasted fairly well on me for a whole day most probably due to the finishing powder’s oil-control properties.

When boredom strikes, what better way to keep it at bay than to play with minerals! And I’ve got Milan Mineral Cosmetics to thank for that.
I often browse beauty blogs to update myself with trends and techniques in makeup application. Once I saw a pretty shock-ing combination of eye colors courtesy of a popular non-mineral makeup brand. Bright yellows, greens and blues. Who would’ve thought I could do a li’l something similar? Until…

Outdoing Myself with Milan’s Pigments
I am just so fond of full coverage foundations, and one thing special about mineral makeup is that its full coverage foundations give all the coverage I need, but no one would really find out that I’ve stacked alot of layers on my skin already! If this world is a sketchpad, they are definitely erasers! In other words, full coverage mineral foundation is miraculous!

Today, I was to do fieldwork, so I had to wear nice makeup! ( Haha! ) So, I was fiddling through my mineral makeup collection and saw a sample size of Milan Minerals foundation in Kianna that I bought a month ago. I thought, why not give it a try! Continue Reading »
Mineral Makeup Review : Milan Minerals Foundation
After trying Milan Mineral’s Oil at Bay, my next stop is the Perfect Presentation. Based from what I read in the site, its sericite-based. Sericite coming from the Latin word Sericus , meaning silken. I emailed Candace and she mentioned there is also mica there.

It was advertised as “ Airbrush in a jarâ€. Sounds good right? I think so too. The word airbrush brings to my mind images of skin perfection.

Mineral Makeup Review: Milan Minerals’ Perfect Presentation
A week ago, I was asked by a friend on how her mineral makeup would stay put on her skin. Considering it was a really great brand that she was already using, I was surprised, and asked her what happened. It turns out that her skin was extremely oily like mine, and she uses only mineral foundation. I told her that she needed a finishing powder to further control her oilies for it was an extra step for oily-skinned people like me, had to take.
Applying an oil control finishing powder would sure help control your oily skin while wearing mineral makeup, as it would definitely be a big help in making it stay put. I would most recommend to use the sandwich method for this.
How do we do the sandwich method? Here are the steps. Continue Reading »
Mineral Makeup Application : Sandwich Method for Staying Power
Happy 4th of July! In the midst of the celebration of American liberty, mineral makeup companies are also holding their sales as treats to their loyal customers, and encourage more newbies to try their lines! Here’s a partial list of those who are holding sales on the spirit of July 4 ( and month-long ones, too! )

Nah, this isn’t about the latest hit in music. You came to the right blog. This time I wanna share a very recent fave of mine from Milan Minerals.
Milan Minerals has gotten a lot of raves from my fellow MMU addicts. Their gel liners, a cult favorite, if I’m not mistaken, are similar to that of MAC fluidlines. They definitely have a lot of goodies to try! As I was browsing their site, a wave of frustration swept over me. I can only feast my eyes on the pics since I can’t purchase anything online because I still don’t have a credit card. On second thought, it’s a good thing ‘coz I’m unable to practice my impulse buying habits. Continue Reading »
