Bare Escentuals Consumer Creates Glimmer for Charity!

This press release was in my inbox, and I am happy to share with you the latest @ the Mineral Makeup world. I’m happy that cosmetics brands have some kindness in their hearts that they donate some of their sales for a cause. Read on!

Chicago, IL (October 2006) – The gift of giving back has never looked better. Bare Escentuals’ newest shade of eyeshadow, “Loli Glimmer,” is the brilliant creation of Sesser, IL native Lori Chamness. By creating the eyeshadow, Chamness not only fulfilled her own dream of formulating a new product, but also forwarded the hopes of women with cancer by supporting Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Foundation Cancer and Careers Project.

As the highest bidder in the Cosmetic Executive Women Foundation 2005 eBay charity auction, Chamness gained the opportunity to create a limited edition eyeshadow with Bare Escentuals, the pioneer and leader of the mineral makeup category. Working directly with dynamic Bare Escentuals CEO Leslie Blodgett and Product Development Director Sarina Godin, Chamness dove into the development process, from conception through to product launch.

Chamness drew inspiration for the color and name of the eyeshadow from her lifelong friendship with her sister and the pair’s fond childhood memories of Hawaii. “Loli,” Chamness’ first name in Hawaiian, is a rich, shimmery teal shade reminiscent of a tropical getaway.

A self-proclaimed “make-up junkie,” Chamness spent several years behind the makeup counter as a makeup artist and manager. Now, inspired by her experience creating “Loli,” she is transitioning from applying makeup to developing it, going back to school for her M.B.A. in marketing.

The limited edition i.d. bareMinerals “Loli Glimmer” eyeshadow launches nationwide on October 7, 2006, with a celebration in Ulta and Bare Escentuals boutiques, in Chicago. Chamness and her sister Michele Chamness-King will be on hand to demonstrate the “Loli Look.”

The shade, which will retail for $13, will be sold exclusively at Ulta and Bare Escentuals boutiques nationwide. All profits from the 2005 CEW eBay charity auction and sale of i.d. bareMinerals “Loli Glimmer” eyeshadow will be donated to CEW’s Cancer and Careers Program.
