   Mineral Makeup Review : Lauress Minimalist Foundation

   The newly launched Lauress Minimalist Foundation promises mineral makeup lovers, specially those who have oily skin, the oil control added, as well as the full coverage and staying power that they’ve always dreamed of, coupled with the famous unbelievably flawless finish that the Lauress Elemental(and way before that ) foundations have a reputation of.

   Well, to be honest, my skin profile’s like, the worst. My skin is horribly, just horribly oily. One blotting paper’s just not enough for me, and only a few mineral makeup brand foundations of full coverage stay THAT long on my skin. So, will the Lauress Minimalist Foundation live up to what it promises to be? Given extreme conditions like mine, that is?

   Let’s see, shall we? My tale’s up!

   It’s summer right now and I am gloriously tanned. Well, I’m exaggerating. I meant to say that my skin’s darker than usual, and I just love it. That means, another shade of mineral foundation for me to ensure that I don’t look like a cake or maybe a geisha. It also means that applying full/heavy coverage foundations that I usually use take alot of effort because even if we say that mineral makeup feels lighter than traditional makeup, you just can’t help it but really just want to wear the lightest-feel mineral foundation available, to the extent that you want to feel like you aren’t wearing any, and I mean any makeup at all, specially when the weather’s all hot and you perspire, too. It still gets uncomfortable.

   I settled for the Lauress Minimalist Foundation in the shade of Pure Yellow. I was given two choices - Gold, or Yellow , and I must say that Gold had some olive tones in it while I was just..really yellow ( Asian, Chinese ). For reference, by now, I am using Bare Escentuals in Medium Beige and Monave in Saturnina ( might be Medium Golden with Lumiere ).

   For reference, those who are Fair to a lil bit light can explore the “Soft” shades, while those on the semi fair to light can try the “Creamy” shades, then those on the medium shades can choose “Pure” shades. My bestbud’s a Monave Caroline and swears by Lauress Elemental Mineral Foundation in Creamy Yellow.

   Going back, here’s my review on it. One lazy Sunday, I was supposed to go to the mall to buy some comforters for my new bed, and yes, I needed to apply makeup because I don’t go out of the house without makeup on because of coverage issues. In this sweltering heat, my skin’s breaking out bad and at the same time , I’m too lazy to put anything on. I just whipped my synthetic kabuki brush and tried Lauress Minimalist Mineral Foundation in Pure Yellow, sandwiched between before and after swipes of Larenim Invisi-pore ( my finishing powder as of the moment, it has silica for oil control and makes pores look smaller ). Right then on a lazy Sunday afternoon, the roadtest began.

   First, I was amazed by how it worked well with my synthetic kabuki. With the impossible weather, my skin gets easily irritated ( or just psychological ) with animal hair brushes, though they provide the best buffing quality and finish available for full/heavy coverage foundations. Lauress Minimalist Mineral Foundation worked quite harmoniously with my synthetic kabuki as it glided effortlessly on my skin. As for the coverage, I was impressed that it was not light at all. It was medium. The perfect medium coverage that I was looking for. It felt something familiar, somewhat like the Everyday Minerals’ foundation I have tried two years ago ( it gave a really flawless, melt on your skin finish ) in terms of finish, but the staying power of Lauress? I was impressed, too.

   So, I went on the day shopping, and shopping, waiting for my face to oil up, and maybe shriek in shock as I check the mirror finding my makeup all gone - but I did not shriek. Yes, my face did indeed oil up, and while eating dinner out, I told my sister, “Hey, how’s my makeup, you have to be honest, this is for a review, my skin’s oily I bet. I feel it.” My sister told me, “your makeup’s still very intact, skin looks good, and isn’t oily at all!” I was in major shock as I did not expect it. I started using blotting paper to prove to her that my skin was indeed oily, and she was the one who was in shock as I finished an entire sheet. I was happy that even if my skin oiled up that much, it still wasn’t noticeable. I’ve long accepted about my extremely oily skin condition, and just bring with me blotting papers to everywhere I go. Hey, maybe it just looked “dewy” at least, I could not claim that my face looked matte that time. Maybe making oily skin look better. I think!

   So, my verdict? This foundation won’t be able to conceal your blemishes, you would surely be needing a concealer for those problem areas, but it would make your skin look all even and smooth, with medium coverage for me, and maybe full coverage for those who have normal skin ( can be really perfect for occasions ). The staying power is good enough - it lasted me 5-6 hours, as I felt the need to retouch after that. The finish is quite flawless, just like the Elemental Mineral Foundation - I think Lauress is famous for photogenic and flawless-finish mineral foundation, and I am just glad that they were able to come up with Minimalist - it works best on oily skin as it makes skin look even better as skin oils up. Most of all, it felt light. I love the feeling when I wear this.

   I must just say - that this is my official summer everyday makeup!
